Job Description

Part-Time Pastor Cerro Gordo Methodist Church - Cerro Gordo, NC A little bit about us: We are a small, tight-knit group of believers at Cerro Gordo Methodist Church. If you walk into our sanctuary on a Sunday, you'll mostly see a room full of dedicated senior citizens who love our traditional roots and have kept this church going through thick and thin. We love our church, but we don't want to just look backward—we have a strong desire to see our congregation grow and to reach out to new families in our community.
Who we are looking for:
We aren't looking for a CEO or someone to give orders from a pedestal. We want a real partner. Our ideal pastor is someone who is genuinely humble, possesses a servant's heart, and is an excellent listener. We have a lot of history and wisdom in our pews, so we want a leader who will pull up a chair, listen to our stories, and collaborate with us to figure out where God is leading us next. What you'll be doing:
Preaching :
Bring us a solid, encouraging message every Sunday morning.
Collaborating :
Work hand-in-hand with our members to find simple, practical ways to share Christ with Cerro Gordo and help our church grow.
Caring:
Check in on our folks, visit our homebound members, and just be a supportive presence in our lives.
A quick note on background:
We are a Methodist church, and our theology aligns with those traditions. However, you do not strictly have to be an ordained Methodist minister to apply. If you love the Lord, love small-town ministry, and have a heart for older generations and community growth, we would love to talk to you.
The practical details:
Status:
Part-time (perfect for a bi-vocational pastor or someone balancing other commitments).
Housing:
We do not have a parsonage, so this position is best suited for someone already local to the area or who has housing secured nearby.
Pay:
Compensation is part-time and will be discussed openly based on your experience.
How to connect with us:
If this sounds like a community you'd like to walk alongside, please reach out! You can send your resume or just a short note telling us about yourself to tiffanyburroughs@yahoo.
com Expected hours:
15.0 - 20.0 per week Application Question(s): What is your favorite book in the Bible? Give a brief explanation as to why it is your favorite book. Imagine that, after several weeks of ministry with our congregation, the church leadership asked you to adjust your preaching or ministry approach because they felt it was not connecting well with our congregation. How would you respond and what steps would you take?
Work Location:
In person
