Overview A locally operated hospice organization serving the Eufaula and McAlester area is seeking a compassionate and dependable Hospice Chaplain & Volunteer Coordinator to join our team. The primary responsibilities of this position are spiritual care/chaplain services and coordination of the hospice volunteer program . For a full-time candidate, the position may also include responsibility for the hospice's bereavement program and other related patient and family-support activities. We are open to either a PRN/part-time arrangement or a full-time position , depending on the candidate's experience, availability, and interest. This is a confidential job posting. Responsibilities Chaplain/Spiritual Care Provide spiritual and emotional support to hospice patients and their families based on their individual beliefs, values, and preferences. Complete spiritual assessments and develop appropriate spiritual care plans. Make routine and as-needed visits to patients in their homes, facilities, or other care settings. Participate in interdisciplinary group (IDG) meetings and collaborate with nurses, social workers, physicians, aides, and other members of the hospice team. Provide support to families during the dying process and at the time of death. Assist with memorial services, funerals, or other spiritual support when appropriate and requested. Maintain timely and accurate documentation of visits and services. Volunteer Coordinator Coordinate and oversee the hospice volunteer program. Recruit, screen, orient, train, assign, and support hospice volunteers. Match volunteers with patients and families based on needs and preferences. Maintain volunteer personnel files, training records, activity documentation, and required volunteer records. Track volunteer utilization and assist the hospice in meeting applicable Medicare/CMS volunteer program requirements. Maintain regular communication with volunteers and members of the hospice clinical team. Bereavement-Full-Time Position For a candidate interested in a full-time role, responsibilities may also include: Coordinating the hospice bereavement program. Providing or coordinating grief and bereavement support for families following a patient's death. Conducting bereavement risk assessments and follow-up. Maintaining required bereavement documentation and follow-up schedules. Assisting with memorial activities and other family-support programs. Qualifications Experience in ministry, chaplaincy, pastoral care, spiritual care, counseling, social services, hospice, healthcare, or a related field preferred. Appropriate education, training, or experience in spiritual care, theology, ministry, counseling, grief support, or a related discipline. Hospice or healthcare experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Comfortable supporting patients and families from a wide variety of religious, spiritual, and cultural backgrounds. Organized and able to manage volunteer records, scheduling, documentation, and regulatory requirements. Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with an interdisciplinary clinical team. Reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout the Eufaula / McAlester service area .
