Job Description

Job Overview The Children's Ministry Director will be a dynamic, passionate, and organized leader responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of children's ministry programs at Waterway Church. This part-time position is designed to ensure that children from ages 0 to 5th grade have a safe, nurturing, and spiritually enriching environment in which to grow in their faith. The Director will collaborate with the Administrative Pastor and other ministry leaders to align the children's ministry with the overall mission and vision of the church. Duties Plan, coordinate, and oversee children's ministry activities, including Sunday school classes, holiday events, and special programs that align with the organization's faith principles. Lead, support, and develop volunteers for all children's ministry programs, including: Sunday School (ages 4 years old through 1st grade); Children's Church (ages 4 years old through 1st grade); Waterway 2-5 (2nd through 5th grade);  Nurseries (Infants to 3-year-olds); Vacation Bible School (VBS); All other Children's Ministry Activities Lead age-appropriate lessons that resonate with children's developmental levels. Select and evaluate curriculum in conjunction with the church pastors, and implement Coordinate with pastoral and elder team to ensure that the curriculum aligns with the church's doctrinal beliefs and vision Meet periodically as needed with the Administrative Pastor for ministry updates, vision alignment, and strategic planning Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to assist with children's programs, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all participants. Schedule and facilitate regular meetings with the leaders of the children's ministry areas Foster strong relationships with children and their families through mentoring, communication, and pastoral support tailored to their spiritual needs. Maintain safety protocols and ensure compliance with childcare regulations Work with ministry leaders to ensure that all children's ministry classrooms and areas are well-stocked with the necessary materials, supplies, and resources for ministry activities Develop resources an opportunities for parents to be engaged in their children's spiritual development Oversee the children's ministry budget, ensuring that expenditures are within the approved budget and aligned with the overall mission of Waterway Church. Requirements Committed follower of Christ Proven experience working with children in religious or educational settings; experience in youth ministry or pastoral work is highly desirable. Degree in Education or related field Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate volunteers and foster teamwork within a faith-based community. Excellent communication skills for engaging children, parents, volunteers, and church staff effectively. Knowledge of religious teachings, pastoral theology, and religious studies relevant to Christian education. Heart for ministry and a desire to see children grow in their faith. Ability to plan engaging events and develop age-appropriate lesson plans that promote spiritual growth. Experience in nonprofit faith-based organizations or religious organizations' childcare programs is preferred. Team player who is flexible and collaborative in ministry settings Skills in event planning, social work practices, and community engagement will enhance your effectiveness in this role. $22.00 - $28.00 per hour Expected hours: 10.0 - 25.0 per week
