Job Description

Residential Peer Recovery Advocate - Supportive Living will provide peer recovery support to individuals residing in UConnectCare's residential programs. This position will demonstrate relevant, competent knowledge and skills in the area of providing one-on-one recovery services and support, in addition to providing in-person support to families and groups as needed. This position will additionally provide linkage with other services providers in the community when needed as determined by the recoveree. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: 1. Provide Peer services to residents in the UConnectCare's residential - supportive living programs 2. Work with the Residential/Supportive Living Team to support residents needs within the programs 3. Assist with the intake process, orientation, and discharge procedures as needed 4. Support and assist individuals as they navigate through various systems (i.e. legal, medical, mental health, SUD), including but not limited to attending court and other system meetings as a support and to assist in advocating for effective services 5. Support and encourage recoverees as they define and develop their personal recovery definitions, goals, and plans; learn and practice new skills; and self-monitor their recovery 6. Communicate with referral sources and other community agencies to ensure care coordination 7. Provide/arrange transportation to or from client appointments as needed 8. Participate in Residential/Supportive Living team meetings and other UConnectCare's services provider meetings when requested by the supervisor 9. Document services in the resident's electronic medical record 10. Coordinating program activities that are recovery-oriented and research-based 11. Attend training sessions in order to expand and enhance knowledge and skills 12. Model effective coping skills, communication skills, and independence 13. Be punctual and prepared for all daily shifts, duties, and meetings .
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Graduate. CRPA-P, CRPA, and/or CARC credential required within 12 months of hire—applicants holding the credential currently or eligible immediately for certification may receive priority consideration. Addiction knowledge required. Lived experience with recovery and/or residential programs strongly preferred. Knowledge of community resources encouraged. Valid NYS driver's license and reliable method of transportation required. Scheduled work hours will be flexible to provide maximum coverage as needed and may vary accordingly to include weekdays, weekends, and/or evenings. Must be free of active addiction and non program participant. Pre-employment background/post offer drug screening required for external candidates. This is an hourly nonexempt position. CARF and NHSC accredited.
