The Residential Support Associate (RSA) is responsible for maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive living environment for residents in the Transitional Housing Program. This position provides consistent staff presence, models appropriate boundaries, and supports residents through active listening, resource navigation, and reinforcement of program expectations. The RSA plays a key role in promoting community safety, stability, and resident accountability while maintaining a trauma-informed and professional approach.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain a consistent staff presence in the housing unit during assigned shifts.
Promote a positive and respectful community living environment by modeling appropriate behavior, communication, and boundaries. Build rapport with residents while maintaining clear professional boundaries at all times. Respond to resident questions or concerns and refer issues to appropriate staff, case managers, or resources as needed. Monitor common areas and resident interactions to ensure compliance with house rules and community standards. Enforce safety protocols and immediately notify supervisory staff of incidents, behavioral concerns, or policy violations. Complete daily logs, incident reports, and shift summaries accurately and in a timely manner. Support residents with routine needs, including:
Understanding house rules and expectations
Accessing transportation or community resources
Coordinating schedules or appointments with case managers
Participate in required staff meetings, trainings, and supervision sessions Other Duties as assigned Assumes additional responsibilities as needed to ensure smooth workflow, quality service delivery, and effective organizational functioning.
Attend trainings, meetings, and required agency events to support program operations. Support development and outreach efforts for the Transitional Housing program such as assisting with social media posts, coordinating and participating in events, and supporting community engagement activities.
Hours :
Weekends, Overnight. Not to exceed 29 hours a week. Hours are subject to change.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college coursework in social services, psychology, criminal justice, or a related field preferred. Experience working or volunteering in housing, shelter, or community-based support settings preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain clear professional boundaries. Ability to remain calm, respectful, and professional in high-stress or emotionally charged situations. Comfort working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. Ability to follow policies, procedures, and safety protocols consistently. Strong documentation and time-management skills. Commitment to trauma-informed, respectful, and client-centered practices. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to pass a criminal background check. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional on-call shifts as needed.
