RAs help residents adjust socially, academically, and personally to living on campus and attending Western Wyoming College. The RA serves as a resource, role model, and first point of contact for residents. This position requires regular interaction with students, Housing staff, College personnel, and the public. The RA reports directly to the Housing Coordinators and must work cooperatively with all members of the Housing and Student Life team. The individual must perform all assigned duties efficiently, effectively, and competently; strive for continued improvement and excellence; and follow all College policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines related to the position.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR WHICH THIS INDIVIDUAL IS ACCOUNTABLE
Build a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive residential community while connecting residents with appropriate College resources.
Explain, model, and consistently enforce College and Housing policies in a fair, respectful, and impartial manner.
Participate in the assigned duty and on-call rotation, conduct rounds, and respond appropriately to policy violations, conflicts, emergencies, and safety concerns.
Contact Housing Coordinators, Campus Safety, emergency services, or other College personnel when additional assistance is needed, and complete all required documentation promptly and accurately.
Plan, promote, and participate in programs that support student engagement, success, wellness, and belonging.
Attend required training sessions, meetings, and Housing activities, and assist with residence hall opening, closing, check-in, check-out, and room inspections.
Report facility, custodial, safety, and security concerns; maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality; and perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Maintain a cumulative and semester GPA of at least 2.50 and remain in good academic standing. RAs who fall below a 2.50 cumulative or semester GPA may be placed on an Academic Restorative Plan. An RA who falls below a 2.00 cumulative or semester GPA may be released from the position. Exceptions must be approved by the Director of Housing and Student Activities or the Dean of Students.
Complete the current FAFSA application, unless exempt as an international student.
Be enrolled as a full-time Western Wyoming College student unless an exception is approved by the Director of Housing and Student Activities.
Live in an assigned on-campus residence hall throughout the term of the RA appointment.
Demonstrate an interest in Student Life and a willingness to support the needs of residents.
Communicate and interact effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
Address resident concerns and policy violations firmly, fairly, respectfully, and consistently.
Demonstrate sound judgment, reliability, maturity, and the ability to respond appropriately in difficult or emergency situations.
Maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries.
Attend all required staff training sessions, meetings, programs, and other assigned activities.
Be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight on-call periods as scheduled.
Hold no off-campus employment. Additional on-campus employment may not exceed 20 hours per week unless an exception is approved in writing by the Director of Housing and Student Activities. Preferred Qualifications
Previous leadership, customer service, mentoring, or student involvement experience.
Experience planning or facilitating student activities and programs.
Current CPR , first aid, or emergency-response certification.
