Job Description

NOW HIRING - CERTIFIED RECOVERY SPECIALIST
(CRS) Drug & Alcohol Street Outreach Community Intervention Center (CIC) - Scranton, PA Full-Time | $42,000/year + Health Insurance Community Intervention Center is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and dependable Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) to join our team and help develop and deliver our Drug & Alcohol Street Outreach Program. This is not a desk-based position. The CRS will spend significant time in the community engaging individuals affected by substance use, homelessness, and other barriers to care. Outreach will be conducted at CIC and throughout designated community locations using CIC's retrofitted outreach van . Primary Responsibilities Conduct scheduled street outreach throughout the Scranton area using CIC's outreach van. Provide recovery support, encouragement, education, and connections to appropriate drug and alcohol treatment and recovery services. Utilize harm reduction, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and person-centered approaches during all outreach activities. Distribute approved harm-reduction and outreach supplies and provide education regarding their proper use. Connect individuals with detoxification, treatment, recovery supports, medical and behavioral health care, housing, benefits, and other community resources. Provide overdose-prevention education and information about available community resources. Follow up with individuals to support continued engagement and connection to services. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with treatment providers, healthcare organizations, recovery programs, law enforcement, homeless-service providers, and other community partners. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of outreach contacts, referrals, services, supplies distributed, and program outcomes. Qualifications Current Pennsylvania Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) credential required. Bachelor's degree in human services, social work, behavioral health or related field preferred. Three years of relevant experience preferred , particularly in recovery services, substance use services, homelessness, behavioral health, street outreach, or community-based services. Strong ability to engage individuals who may be actively using substances, experiencing homelessness, or hesitant to seek services. Knowledge of harm reduction, overdose prevention, substance use disorders, recovery resources, and community services. Strong communication, de-escalation, organization, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently in community settings while functioning as part of the CIC team. Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate CIC's outreach vehicle required. Ability to maintain professional boundaries and participant confidentiality.
