Social Services and related program staff Position Summary The Director of Social Services provides leadership, supervision, and day-to-day support for PROP's social services programs. This position ensures that staff have the guidance, resources, and support needed to provide compassionate, consistent, and effective services to neighbors. The Director will supervise social services staff, monitor program operations and outcomes, assist with complex client situations, and serve as a flexible resource across PROP's operations. This position will also provide limited direct service, including assisting with emergency financial assistance cases, be the food locker coordinator, and will serve as a floater for the front desk and Food Mart when staff coverage is needed. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Supervision Supervise, support, and develop social services staff. Provide regular coaching, feedback, and performance support. Ensure staff follow PROP policies, procedures, and best practices. Help create a positive, collaborative, and service-focused team environment. Coordinate staffing and coverage to ensure continuity of services. Identify operational challenges and work with the Executive Director to develop solutions. Client Services & Emergency Assistance Provide guidance and support to staff handling complex client situations. Handle a limited number of emergency financial assistance cases. Ensure emergency assistance is administered consistently, fairly, and in accordance with PROP policies. Step in to assist with other client needs during periods of high demand. Coordinate/attend with community resources providers and partners. Program Oversight Monitor the quality and effectiveness of social services programs. Track program activity, outcomes, and client needs. Help identify trends and opportunities for improving services. Collaborate with other PROP departments to provide coordinated support to neighbors. Participate in program planning, developing, evaluation, and strategic initiatives including expanding services. Organizational Floater & Operational Support Coordinate the Food Locker program by scheduling volunteers, monitoring food availability, updating the ordering system, ensuring food is properly stocked in the appropriate lockers, and overseeing daily cleaning and sanitation of the lockers. Provide front desk/reception coverage when needed, including greeting neighbors, answering phones, and assisting with basic administrative needs. Provide Food Mart coverage when needed, including supporting the Food Mart Supervisor and helping maintain smooth daily operations. Serve as a flexible resource during staff absences, vacations, busy periods, or other operational needs. Support special events, food distributions, and other PROP activities as assigned. Other Responsibilities Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working with neighbors and staff. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and organizational planning. Build positive relationships with community partners and service providers. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred. Experience supervising staff and managing programs or services. Experience working with individuals and families experiencing financial hardship, housing instability, or other challenges. Microsoft Office Suite proficiency Bilingual proficiency in English and at least one of the following languages is required: Spanish, Arabic, Somali, Russian, or Ukrainian. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
