PBCFB rescues and mobilizes food donations from local farmers, food distributors, retailers, and restaurants. The rescued food is allocated to our vast network of over 200 social service agencies, helping address food insecurity in the county. PBCFB is strongly committed to the nutritional success of children, seniors, and families.
Job Summary:
The Receptionist/Volunteer Coordinator at the Food Bank is our brand ambassador and one of the most important roles in our organization. You will serve as the first and last point of contact for all volunteers, clients, and visitors, delivering a consistently warm, polished, and professional experience. This outward-facing leadership role requires exceptional communication skills, a genuine passion for the food banking industry, and the ability to display service, hospitality, and excellence.
Responsibilities:
Receptionist
Handle multi-line phone communications with professionalism and efficiency.
Maintain the reception area to the highest standards of presentation.
Greet volunteers, clients, and visitors.
Answer questions.
Direct visitors to the correct location.
Answer the phone and respond to emails.
Sort mail and file paperwork. Volunteer Coordinator
Engage with volunteers and foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages volunteer satisfaction and retention.
Answer volunteer questions, offer guidance, and provide support as needed.
Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteer inquiries via email, phone and in person.
Help organize volunteers and coordinate related equipment for outside events as needed.
Manage the volunteer calendar, including scheduling individuals and groups for daily activities and special events.
Utilize VolunteerHub to create, update, and maintain volunteer opportunities and schedules.
Utilize VolunteerHub to track and analyze all volunteer statistics (i.e., hours, dates of service, number of volunteers), and all other data as appropriate.
Maintain all required documentation for volunteer groups and individual volunteer hours of service.
Pull reports from VolunteerHub.
Help with volunteer recruitment through concerted outreach efforts. Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED preferred
Minimum 2 years of experience is required
Must be able to function in a team environment
Bilingual English/Spanish (a plus)
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite is required
The ability to present with a polished, professional appearance and embody the standards of hospitality.
Self-motivated, organized, and composed under pressure.
Communicate with clarity and warmth, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and approach every interaction with genuine care and hospitality.
A collaborative spirit, positive attitude, and commitment to continuous learning are essential.
Physical Requirements With or without reasonable accommodation, employees in this position must be able to sit, stand, walk, talk, see, type, hear, and perform repetitive motions. The employee is required to sit for long periods of time and will be regularly exposed to office conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. This position requires the employee to lift up to 20 lbs.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
