In this pivotal role, you will be the primary point of contact for community members looking to give back, driving volunteer recruitment, scheduling, and retention across our daily operations, front reception desk, and signature fundraising and awareness events. The ideal candidate can engage warmly and respectfully with diverse populations, including those with lived experience. Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills, a strong knack for administrative organization and data management, and a passion for supporting mental health education, support, and advocacy in DuPage County. Key Responsibilities Volunteer & Intern Recruitment Source, recruit, and onboard a diverse pool of volunteers and interns for general operations, specialized programs, and major events. Build and maintain partnerships with local schools, universities, community organizations, and corporate groups to expand outreach. Conduct volunteer interviews and orientation sessions to ensure proper placement and alignment with organizational needs. Scheduling & Operations Management Manage and coordinate schedules for all volunteers and interns across daily office needs, front desk coverage, and events. Assign appropriate duties based on volunteer skills, interests, and availability. Monitor daily attendance, ensure adequate coverage for key operational areas, and proactively troubleshoot scheduling conflicts. Manage storage facility areas as it relates to event needs, and utilization of volunteers. Front Reception Management & Desk Coverage Train and oversee volunteers assigned to front desk duties (answering phones, greeting guests, providing community resources). Work at the front desk as needed during peak times, coverage gaps, or volunteer absences. Data Management & Administrative Processes Accurately create and input contact profiles within the organizational database. Log, track, and report volunteer service hours for internal reporting, grant compliance, and intern school credits. Standardize and streamline volunteer management administrative processes, forms, and workflows. Event Recruitment & Logistics (NAMI DuPage Events) Lead volunteer recruitment, assignment, and management for all major NAMI DuPage signature events (e.g., Run/Walk, Gala, Community Presentations, Shine A Light). Work key events on-site to coordinate volunteer check-in, assign shift duties, manage event logistics, and support event leadership. Facilitate post-event follow-up, volunteer debriefs, and recognition initiatives. Volunteer Engagement & Retention Serve as an approachable point of contact and advocate for all volunteers and interns. Plan and execute volunteer appreciation initiatives and recognition programs to build a strong, loyal volunteer community.
Qualifications & Skills Technical Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other programs -training provided
Communication:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Organization:
Strong multi-tasking skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment.

Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 per week
