LBSW Full Job Description City Overview:
The Historic City of Mount Rainier, MD is a residential community sitting on the border of Washington DC and Prince Georges County, MD. Serving 8,500 residents, the community is a small urban oasis of historic homes and unique shops. Position Summary The Social Services Coordinator will assist community members in finding public assistance and resources available through various local, county, state, and federal agencies. The Social Services Coordinator will report to the Director of Administrative Services at City Hall. This is a part-time position requiring approximately 20-25 hours per week, non-exempt, hourly position. The City hours operating hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 am

Essential Functions:
The Social Services Coordinator will provide Mount Rainier citizens with resources and support with the following: Housing resources Mental health services Job counseling services Tax breaks for city residents Free tax preparation services Homeless shelter services Animal shelter services and free spay/neuter resources Immigration services Translation referral and services Serve as the primary contact for social services communication. Requirements:
Education and Experience Bachelor's degree, preferably in Psychology, Social Services, or a related field. Licensed Bachelor Social Worker (LBSW) certification. 1-3 years of experience working in social services, preferably with a municipal government. Knowledge of resources available through county, state, and federal agencies, and familiarity with the Prince George's County Social Services Division. Ability to use a variety of federal, state, and foundation online systems and resources.
Core Competencies:
Strong communication skills, with significant proficiency in professional and business writing and excellent proofreading skills. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to follow complex sets of instructions. Expertise in analyzing and interpreting data. Demonstrates flexibility regarding schedules, sharing of tasks, and changes in routines or plans. Maintains a positive attitude and works cooperatively with others. Ability to multitask effectively and manage deadlines. Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with other employees, residents, community groups, grant-funding organizations, public organizations, other governmental entities, and the media. Ability to translate complex matters into concise and compelling content that aligns with the stated goals of grant funders. Bilingual, with the ability to read, write, and speak Spanish, preferred.
Work Authorization:
This position requires the successful completion of a background check, references, fingerprint, and drug screen.
Work Conditions:
Primarily office-based work. May occasionally require extended hours to meet reporting deadlines or respond to urgent requests. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Ability to lift and move boxes weighing up to 25 pounds. Manual dexterity to operate computers, scanners, and office equipment.
