HOUSING SPECIALIST
The Reno Housing Authority has career opportunities available for a Housing Specialist . This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with diverse customers, and desires to make a difference in our community every day! The Housing Specialist performs case management duties for the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program. Examples of some of the essential position duties are: Interviews applicants/clients, assesses documentation to ensure accuracy and completion and updates applicant/client data. Determines initial/continued eligibility for appropriate low-income housing program(s). Applies federal regulations and agency policies in determining tenant rent and appropriate subsidy levels. Answers inquiries concerning eligibility, program compliance and rent calculation based on knowledge of federal regulations and agency policies for appropriate housing program(s). Maintains priority/preference system, as required, for housing program(s) and maintains certified pool of applicants. Evaluates documents and sends notices to applicants/clients/ landlords with regard to regulations, authority policies, rent changes, program violations, and other miscellaneous correspondence as needed. Collaborates with community organizations, social service agencies, and local government entities to promote programs and services Conducts individual or group briefing sessions to explain program requirements.

WHAT IS NEEDED?
The minimum qualifications for this position are: High school diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years of increasing responsible case management experience that involved interviewing clients for public housing programs or social service programs, or in a property management setting Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work as determined by Human Resources Must obtain HCV Rent Calculation Certification and/or Public Housing Rent Calculation Certification within one year of employment as a condition for continued employment.
