Job Description
Peer Support Specialist ? Veteran and Family Peer Support Specialist to work directly with Veterans and their families as they pursue housing stability and greater self-sufficiency. This position provides peer-to-peer support, community outreach, resource navigation, advocacy, and ongoing encouragement. This position may require flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends during severe-weather shelter activations. What's in it for you? Veteran and Family Details:
Temp-to-Hire position $19.67 to $25.61 /hour Full Time work available First Shift (Monday through Friday) Identify and engage unsheltered individuals through direct outreach, referrals, shelters, law enforcement, churches, and community service providers Build trusting, supportive relationships with Veterans and their families Provide encouragement and coaching related to self-care, housing stability, and independent living Advocate for participants and help them work toward their individual housing goals Assist participants with accessing community programs, services, and other resources Maintain participant confidentiality Attend required severe-weather shelter training and certifications Peer Support Specialist ?
Veteran and Family Qualifications:
Minimum of one year of direct client-contact or customer-service experience Peer Mentorship certification and crisis-intervention training, or the ability to obtain both within one year of employment Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Ability to maintain accurate and confidential participant documentation Ability to interact respectfully with individuals from diverse educational, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds Willingness to work occasional nights, weekends, and in varying weather conditions Valid Oregon driver's license with an acceptable driving record Previous military experience with an honorable discharge Applicant may be subject to a background check Applicant may be subject to a Motor Vehicle Report Pre-employment drug screen (Excluding THC) is required as a condition of employment A conviction record will not necessarily prevent you from being employed. You will be required to complete and submit a questionnaire.
