Job Description

Job Summary:
The Service Navigator helps individuals and families access community resources, financial assistance, public benefits, and other supportive services. Responsibilities include assessing client needs, assisting with applications, providing referrals, and maintaining accurate client records. Fluency in both English and Spanish is required. The Service Navigator must be able to independently communicate with and assist clients in both languages.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct client assessments to identify immediate needs, strengths, barriers, goals, and resource gaps and provide appropriate guidance and follow-up. 2. Determine eligibility and process applications for KCM programs, including food assistance and, for eligible clients, rent, utility, and mortgage assistance. 3. Connect clients with appropriate community resources and advocate on their behalf by communicating with partner agencies and service providers when needed. 4. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation of client interactions, applications, referrals, assistance, and outcomes using Apricot and other agency systems. 5. Utilize and learn technology required for the position, including Microsoft 365, Excel, SharePoint, Apricot, JotForm, web-based portals, spreadsheets, and other systems used by KCM. 6. Collaborate with Social Services staff and other KCM departments, providing coverage and assistance as needed, including reception, client intake, food pantry applications, and support during periods of high client volume or staff absence. 7. Assist with seasonal programs, backpack distributions, special events, and other organizational activities as needed. 8. Demonstrate initiative, adaptability, and sound judgment; participate in training and professional development; and remain informed about relevant programs, community resources, policies, and procedures. 9. Maintain a compassionate, respectful, and nonjudgmental approach to client services, uphold professional boundaries and confidentiality, and perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
Relevant education or experience in social services, human services, community services, client support, or a related field. Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, psychology, counseling, sociology, or a related field preferred. Fluency in both English and Spanish required. Must be able to independently communicate with and provide client services in both languages. Knowledge of community resources and publicbenefit programs preferred. Strong interpersonal, customer service, communication, and problemsolving skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a teamoriented environment. Experience with Microsoft 365, including Word and Excel, and the ability to learn client databases and other technology required for the position. Compassionate, empathetic, and nonjudgmental approach to working with individuals experiencing financial hardship, crisis, or other challenging circumstances.
Physical Requirements:
This position may require sitting for extended periods, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and other physical movement associated with client services and agency activities. The employee must be able to lift and/or move materials weighing up to 25 pounds. About Katy Christian Ministries
