Hospice Volunteer Coordinator Part-Time (10 Hours per Week)

Pay Range:

$18.00 to $23.00 per

Hour Performance Incentive:

Additional $2.00 per Volunteer Hour for Exceeding 6% Hospice Patient Total Hours Position Summary Summit Home Health & Hospice is seeking a compassionate, organized, and self-motivated Hospice Volunteer Coordinator to develop and lead our volunteer program. This position plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of care provided to hospice patients and their families through volunteer recruitment, training, support, and engagement. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping others, building community relationships, and creating meaningful volunteer opportunities that support patients facing life-limiting illnesses. This is a part-time position scheduled for approximately 10 hours per week with flexible scheduling.

Compensation Base Pay:

$18.00 to $23.00 per hour, based on experience

Performance Incentive:

Receive an additional $2.00 per volunteer hour when volunteer service hours exceed 6% volunteer hours Flexible schedule Meaningful work that directly impacts patients and families Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesVolunteer Recruitment & Growth Recruit and retain a sufficient number of hospice volunteers to meet patient and organizational needs. Develop community partnerships with churches, schools, civic groups, retirement communities, and local organizations. Coordinate volunteer outreach events and recruitment campaigns. Promote awareness of hospice volunteer opportunities throughout the community. Volunteer Onboarding & Training Coordinate volunteer applications, interviews, background checks, and onboarding. Conduct volunteer orientation and training programs.

Educate volunteers regarding:

Hospice philosophy and services Patient rights and confidentiality (HIPAA) Family dynamics and end-of-life care Bereavement support Infection control and safety practices Professional conduct and boundaries Volunteer Management Match volunteers with patients, families, office projects, bereavement activities, and community outreach opportunities. Provide ongoing supervision, support, coaching, and recognition. Maintain regular communication with volunteers. Evaluate volunteer performance and satisfaction. Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate volunteer records in accordance with hospice regulations. Track volunteer visits, hours, and activities. Monitor monthly volunteer utilization to ensure compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation. Prepare reports regarding volunteer activity and participation. Assist in survey readiness and regulatory compliance efforts related to volunteer services. Interdisciplinary Team Collaboration Work closely with nursing, social work, chaplaincy, bereavement, and administrative staff to identify volunteer needs. Participate in interdisciplinary discussions as needed. Coordinate volunteer assignments based on patient goals and the plan of care. Bereavement & Community Support Assist with volunteer involvement in bereavement programs and memorial events. Coordinate volunteers who provide companionship, respite support, administrative assistance, and community outreach. Help foster a culture of service and compassion throughout the organization. QualificationsRequired High School Diploma or GED Excellent organizational and communication skills Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and email Reliable transportation and ability to travel locally as needed Preferred Experience recruiting, coordinating, or managing volunteers Experience in healthcare, hospice, social services, community outreach, or nonprofit organizations Knowledge of hospice philosophy and end-of-life care Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills Ability to motivate and inspire volunteers Excellent public speaking and presentation skills Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism Ability to collaborate effectively with patients, families, volunteers, and staff
