Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Substance Use Disorder Counselor to join our interdisciplinary treatment team. The Counselor provides individual and group counseling, psychoeducation, relapse prevention, recovery planning, and ongoing support to individuals receiving treatment for substance use disorders. This position works closely with therapists, medical providers, nursing staff, case managers, and other members of the treatment team to provide coordinated, patient-centered care and help patients build the skills and resources necessary for long-term recovery. Key Responsibilities Provide individual substance use disorder counseling and recovery support. Facilitate therapeutic, psychoeducational, relapse prevention, and recovery-focused groups. Assist patients with identifying treatment and recovery goals, strengths, needs, and barriers. Help patients develop coping skills, relapse prevention strategies, and healthy recovery-oriented routines. Support implementation of individualized treatment plans. Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and clinical staffing. Monitor patient participation, progress, and barriers to treatment and communicate concerns to the appropriate clinical team members. Provide education related to addiction, recovery, co-occurring disorders, emotional wellness, life skills, and community resources. Complete clinical documentation accurately and within required timeframes. Collaborate with clinical, medical, nursing, case management, and support teams to promote continuity of care. Recognize and appropriately report changes in patient behavior, safety concerns, and crisis situations. Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation within the scope of training and competency. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and patient confidentiality. Participate in supervision, training, competency assessments, quality improvement activities, and professional development. Follow all organizational policies and applicable ethical, regulatory, accreditation, and payer requirements.

Qualifications Required:

Bachelor's degree in Addiction Studies, Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Behavioral Sciences, Criminal Justice, or a related field. Active Indiana addiction counseling credential in good standing, including at least one of the following:

CADAC II CADAC III

Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) At least one year of experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, social services, healthcare, or a related field. Strong communication, interpersonal, documentation, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team.

Preferred:

Master's degree in a behavioral health-related field. Experience working in substance use disorder treatment, residential treatment, inpatient behavioral health, detoxification, or a similar setting. Previous experience facilitating therapeutic or psychoeducational groups. Experience providing individual substance use disorder counseling. Additional addiction treatment or behavioral health credentials. $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
