Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor to join our team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive addiction counseling and mental health support to individuals struggling with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Your expertise will guide clients through recovery, utilizing evidence-based practices, clinical assessments, and personalized treatment plans. Duties Conduct thorough client assessments using DSM-5 criteria and ICD coding standards to evaluate substance use and mental health conditions. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and evidence-based practices. Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery, mental health management, and relapse prevention. Provide crisis intervention and crisis management support to clients experiencing acute distress or emergencies. Document clinical notes, progress reports, and treatment outcomes in electronic health records (EHR) following HIPAA guidelines and medical documentation standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including healthcare providers, family members, and community resources for holistic case management. Engage in ongoing research and professional development to stay current with addiction medicine, behavioral health advancements, DSM-5 updates, ICD coding changes, and CPT coding practices. Requirements Valid certification as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC or equivalent) with active licensure or registration as required by state law. Proven experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Strong knowledge of psychotherapy modalities such as behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and crisis intervention techniques. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, EMR/EHR systems, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, and clinical documentation standards. Experience conducting client assessments in therapy settings including intake evaluations and diagnostic evaluations using DSM-5 criteria. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations from various cultural backgrounds in home, community care settings, hospitals, or outpatient clinics. Excellent communication skills for client engagement, case management, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Pay:
$18.00 - $26.00 per hour Expected hours: 24.0 per week
