Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth Worker to join our team and make a positive impact on young people's lives. Duties Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the development and well-being of children and adolescents in various settings. This position involves engaging with youth to foster their growth, provide guidance, and create a safe and nurturing environment. Duties Implement and facilitate educational and recreational programs and activities tailored to the needs of children such as arts & crafts, cooking classes, social skills groups and gardening. Supervise and manage groups of children in various settings, ensuring their safety and well-being. Implement and facilitate psychoeducational youth empowerment groups in the Patchogue Medford school district. (Project Strive & Youth Council) Provide support for children with special needs, adapting activities to meet individual requirements. Educate children on important life skills, including social interaction, responsibility, and self-care, promote physical health, nutrition and teamwork. Maintain open communication with parents, guardians and school staff regarding children's progress and any concerns. Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive approach to youth development. Attend various community networking events, provide outreach and information and recruit new clients for programs. Provide supervised recreation programs when schools are closed for Holidays and Summer. Assist staff with School Supply, Thanksgiving, and Holiday Assistance. Assist staff with Food Pantry and Clothes Closet. Provides resources and referrals to other agencies for all clients in need. Maintain program and client files and complete required monthly reports and statistical reports. Participate in supervision, staff meetings, fundraising activities and trainings as required. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. Have the ability to be flexible in scheduling in order to fulfill fundraising, community service, and outreach obligations. Must have transportation and be willing to travel to the schools in the Patchogue Medford school district three days a week. Some days the schedule will be 10:30am-6:30pm and other days the schedule will be 9am-5pm. Fridays schedule will always be 9am-2pm. Requirements Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field or enrolled in an accredited University/College and in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's Degree.
