Job Title:

Youth Advocate Summary:

Empowering homeless youth to learn the life-skills necessary to live independently. This includes creating a safe and supportive environment while motivating youth to explore education, employment, and housing opportunities through a Positive Youth Development model. The position includes active modeling of meal preparation and general facility maintenance/cleaning.

Job Knowledge, Skills & Requirements:

Experience working with at-risk youth populations.
Experience in responding to crisis situations.
Exceptional patience and sensitivity for homeless or at-risk youth
Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
Experience developing healthy mentor relationships
Experience with Positive Youth Development values
Experience with motivational techniques
History of positive teamwork and participation in group planning
Provide positive reinforcement, emotionally and physically, when maintaining program guidelines and a safe living environment
Participate in group activities and on-site classes.
Ability to teach and demonstrate basic life skills a must - i.e. cooking, cleaning, laundry.
Work assigned shifts with flexibility to cover other shifts as needed.

Availability every other weekend and rotating holidays.
