Job Title:
Youth Advocate Summary:
Empowering homeless youth to learn the life-skills necessary to live independently. This includes creating a safe and supportive environment while motivating youth to explore education, employment, and housing opportunities through a Positive Youth Development model. The position includes active modeling of meal preparation and general facility maintenance/cleaning.
Job Knowledge, Skills & Requirements:
  • Experience working with at-risk youth populations.
  • Experience in responding to crisis situations.
  • Exceptional patience and sensitivity for homeless or at-risk youth
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
  • Experience developing healthy mentor relationships
  • Experience with Positive Youth Development values
  • Experience with motivational techniques
  • History of positive teamwork and participation in group planning
  • Provide positive reinforcement, emotionally and physically, when maintaining program guidelines and a safe living environment
  • Participate in group activities and on-site classes.
  • Ability to teach and demonstrate basic life skills a must - i.e. cooking, cleaning, laundry.
  • Work assigned shifts with flexibility to cover other shifts as needed.
Availability every other weekend and rotating holidays.

$15.00 - $17.00 per hour
