Job Title:
Youth Advocate Summary:
Empowering homeless youth to learn the life-skills necessary to live independently. This includes creating a safe and supportive environment while motivating youth to explore education, employment, and housing opportunities through a Positive Youth Development model. The position includes active modeling of meal preparation and general facility maintenance/cleaning.Job Knowledge, Skills & Requirements:
- Experience working with at-risk youth populations.
- Experience in responding to crisis situations.
- Exceptional patience and sensitivity for homeless or at-risk youth
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
- Experience developing healthy mentor relationships
- Experience with Positive Youth Development values
- Experience with motivational techniques
- History of positive teamwork and participation in group planning
- Provide positive reinforcement, emotionally and physically, when maintaining program guidelines and a safe living environment
- Participate in group activities and on-site classes.
- Ability to teach and demonstrate basic life skills a must - i.e. cooking, cleaning, laundry.
- Work assigned shifts with flexibility to cover other shifts as needed.
