Position:
Senior Release Train Engineer (RTE)
Location:
Baltimore, MD (Hybrid) Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Release Train Engineer (RTE) to lead Agile transformation and execution across one or more value streams / Agile Release Trains (ARTs). The RTE will work at the program level, coordinating multiple Agile teams and helping ensure that strategic technology products are delivered efficiently and predictably. This role combines Agile leadership, program management, stakeholder coordination, risk management, dependency management, and continuous improvement . The ideal candidate will have strong experience working in a SAFe / scaled Agile environment and be comfortable leading PI Planning, coordinating cross-team activities, removing impediments, managing risks, and aligning teams with business and technology objectives. These responsibilities align closely with the standard SAFe RTE role. Key Responsibilities Lead Agile Release Trains and support successful execution across one or more value streams. Facilitate PI Planning, ART Sync, Inspect & Adapt, Scrum of Scrums , and other program-level Agile ceremonies. Coordinate multiple Agile/Scrum teams and manage cross-team dependencies. Work closely with Product Managers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Architects, Business Owners, and other stakeholders. Identify, track, escalate, and help resolve risks, issues, impediments, and dependencies . Lead risk assessment and mitigation activities across the program/value stream. Drive Agile transformation and adoption of Lean-Agile practices. Support teams in improving delivery flow, predictability, quality, and collaboration. Monitor program-level progress, objectives, milestones, dependencies, and delivery metrics. Facilitate communication between technical teams, leadership, and business stakeholders. Remove systemic blockers and escalate issues that cannot be resolved at the team level. Promote continuous improvement and help teams identify opportunities to improve delivery. Support value-stream planning and alignment between strategy and execution. Provide program-level reporting, status updates, metrics, and risk information to leadership. Help ensure technology products and solutions are delivered according to strategic objectives. SAFe specifically describes the RTE as a servant leader/coach responsible for facilitating ART events, stakeholder communication, problem-solving, risk management, impediment removal, and continuous improvement. Required Qualifications Bachelor s degree from an accredited college/university in a related field. 8+ years of risk assessment experience this is explicitly stated by the client and should be treated as a key requirement. Strong experience in Agile / Scrum / SAFe environments . Experience working as an RTE, Senior RTE, Agile Program Manager, Agile Coach, or similar program-level Agile leadership role . Experience coordinating multiple Agile teams / teams of teams. Strong experience with program-level risk, issue, dependency, and impediment management . Experience facilitating PI Planning and ART-level ceremonies . Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Experience supporting Agile transformation and continuous improvement. Preferred SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification . SAFe Agilist / SAFe Scrum Master background. Experience with large enterprise technology programs. Master s degree in a related field.
