We are seeking an experienced Generative AI Software Developer/Engineer for a 12-month contract position based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This role is part of the Applied Research and Technology (ART) Aerospace Technologies Development Sandbox team, chartered with defining new disruptive developmental process improvements for the aerospace business to enable faster cycle times, lower total lifecycle cost, reduce tech debt, and enable greater reusability. You will design and develop next-generation avionics systems, working on experiments to accelerate business capabilities in Generative AI for safety-critical development. Responsibilities Develop, design, and conduct experiments to accelerate business capabilities in Generative AI for safety-critical development Solve everyday problems in innovative ways with passion, curiosity, and dedication Thrive in a collaborative environment and clearly communicate technical guidance, mentoring, and support to multiple sub-projects Take ownership of initiatives while empowering others and prioritizing positive impact Leverage evidence-based approaches, prioritizing data and science in decision-making Rapidly iterate and take calculated risks to find optimal solutions Qualifications Required Strong software development experience and skills Proficiency in Unix/Linux Proficiency in Python (3+ years of experience) Proven execution skills in the development of complex systems Ability to communicate clearly to large audiences Passion for or experience in AI/ML or Generative AI (minimum 2 years) Understanding of the fundamentals of AI/ML through research or practice Proficiency in Full Stack Development Experience deploying Generative AI powered applications Experience with Large Language Model (LLM) development frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Haystack) The role operates Monday through Friday during normal working hours. Formal education is not specifically required if you possess proven professional or personal project experience in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or Generative AI.
