Job DescriptionBiotherapeutics and Genetic Medicine (BGM), a part of Discovery Research within AbbVie's R D, is a global organization dedicated to the discovery and optimization of innovative drug candidate molecules for biotherapeutic modalities (monoclonal antibodies, multispecifics, proteins, conjugates, etc.) and genetic medicines (AAV, LNPs, siRNA, etc.) across all therapeutic areas.

We are seeking a driven and innovative scientist with expertise in bioinformatics to develop and optimize data capture workflows and visualization dashboards for biologics discovery.
Responsibilities:
Collaboratively design digital workflows or tools to streamline biologics discovery and evaluate improvements in operational efficiencyTest software solutions and identify opportunities for iterative improvementsProactively identify scientist needs that further our digital transformation strategy and propose solutions to meet themPilot new software and AI tools to evaluate utility for BGMImplement standard analyses and visualizations that balance customization and increased efficiencyRepresent BGM to Informatics and external software vendor providers as a technical expert.

Collaborate across groups with different prioritiesUnderstand and communicate nuance of wet-lab workflows to enable integrated, harmonized data capture.

Proactively communicate roadblocks and identify potential paths forwardCommunicate impact, including workflow efficiency gains at internal and external forumsQualificationsBS or MS degree in a related scientific discipline or bioinformatics, with typically 5-7+ (BS) or 2-5+ (MS) years of experience.

Strong foundational knowledge of molecular biology and binding and functional assays. Hands-on experience with commonly used bioinformatics tools and platforms (e.g., Prism, Geneious, Genedata Screener, Dotmatics, Benchling) Proficiency in Python and at least one other programming language (e.g., SQL, Java, or R) Demonstrated expertise in data engineering, e.g. retrieving, shaping, preprocessing, and managing large datasets from databases Proven ability to develop interactive data visualizations and dashboards (experience with Power BI, Tableau, D3.js, or Spotfire preferred) Experience with collection and processing of assay data, preferably using automated liquid handlers. 
Preferred:
 Practical experience utilizing relevant programming libraries and frameworks for custom application development (such as Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, Matplotlib, Seaborn, Streamlit) Experience with the integration and automation of laboratory instrumentation for data acquisition and reporting Familiarity with the antibody or genetic medicine R D and drug discovery process Proficient in use of agentic AI for bioinformatics engineering tasks Position will be filled at level commensurate with extent of education, experience, and accomplishment - Scientist I or Scientist IIAdditional InformationApplicable only to applicants applying to a position in any location with pay disclosure requirements under state or local law: ​The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
