Join PSG and help us continue powering tomorrow. Position Overview PSG is seeking a highly experienced Set-Up Programmer for a Soraluce 5-axis machine. This advanced position is responsible for developing and proving out programs, planning complex setups, selecting tooling and work holding, and producing precision components from blueprints and technical specifications. The ideal candidate will have at least ten years of advanced CNC setup and programming experience, including hands-on experience with 5-axis machining. The position will begin on second shift, with the intention of transitioning to first shift in the future based on operational needs.
Shift:
Second shift initially, with the intention to move to first shift in the future Key Responsibilities Develop, edit, prove out, and troubleshoot CNC programs for Large Soraluce 5-axis machine. Plan and complete complex 5-axis setups for precision components. Read and interpret complex blueprints, geometric dimensions and tolerances, technical specifications, and work instructions. Determine machining sequences, toolpaths, tooling, fixtures, work holding, speeds, and feeds. Establish and verify work coordinates, tool offsets, machine reference points, and part orientation. Perform safe program prove-outs and first-piece inspections before releasing work for production. Use precision measuring instruments to verify dimensional accuracy and product quality. Troubleshoot programming, setup, tooling, dimensional, and machine-performance issues. Optimize machining processes to improve efficiency, tool life, accuracy, and consistency. Provide technical guidance to operators and other machining team members as needed. Complete production, inspection, and quality documentation accurately. Follow all company safety, quality, and operating procedures. Required Qualifications At least ten years of advanced CNC setup and programming experience. Hands-on experience setting up and programming 5-axis CNC machining equipment. Experience with Soraluce or comparable 5-axis milling or boring equipment. Ability to independently create, edit, prove out, and troubleshoot CNC programs. Advanced blueprint-reading, shop-math, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing skills. Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and first-piece inspection methods. Advanced knowledge of tooling, workholding, speeds, feeds, and multi-axis machining practices. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on complex components.
Experience:
10+ years Preferred Qualifications Direct programming and setup experience on Soraluce machines. Experience machining large, complex, low-volume, or tight-tolerance components. Experience optimizing 5-axis machining processes and supporting operator development. Experience supporting the power generation, turbine repair, or heavy industrial sectors. Why Join PSG? Pay:
From $45.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
