JOB SUMMARY
Coordinate the programming, optimization, and technical support of robotic welding systems. Ensure robot programs are developed, process improvements are implemented, and operators are trained to deliver consistent, high-quality welds and other manufacturing operations in support of uninterrupted production flow.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities. Program, edit, and optimize robotic welding cells (FANUC, ABB, Motoman, or similar). Create and maintain offline programs and simulation models for assigned projects. Develop and refine welding parameters (within approved WPS limits), torch paths, and fixture strategies. Troubleshoot robot, welder, and peripheral issues to minimize manufacturing downtime. Train and mentor operators on proper setup, operation, and basic programming. Coordinate with engineering, quality, and production for new part launches and process improvements. Establish and maintain programming standards, documentation, and version control. Support continuous improvement in programming processes, cycle time, and reliability. Verify that all programming and operations meet safety, quality, and company standards. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or management.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED required. Technical degree or certification in robotics, welding, or a related field preferred. 3+ years of experience programming industrial robots (FANUC, ABB, Motoman, or equivalent). Proficiency with offline programming software and robot simulation tools. Strong working knowledge of GMAW welding processes, robotic welding applications, and weld quality standards (AWS, ISO). Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical fabrication drawings independently. AWS Certified Welder or equivalent preferred. Strong problem-solving and systematic troubleshooting skills.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Working knowledge of robotic welding cell operation, programming logic, tooling, fixtures, and peripheral equipment. Ability to diagnose equipment and programming issues and implement effective corrective actions. Ability to communicate technical information clearly and train production personnel. Ability to work collaboratively across manufacturing, engineering, quality, and maintenance functions. Ability to manage multiple programming priorities while supporting production requirements.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Successful candidate must complete and clear all required post-offer, pre-employment screenings, including physical examination and medical history review.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT
Work involves regular exposure to a manufacturing environment, including production equipment, welding operations, heat, sparks, fumes, smoke, dust, and loud noises. Employee must be able to safely access robotic welding cells and production areas and use required personal protective equipment. Work may require standing and walking for extended periods and occasional bending, stooping, reaching, or climbing to access equipment. Work environment involves exposure to hazards or physical risks that require strict adherence to established safety precautions.
