Our client, a family-owned precision metal stamping manufacturer, is hiring a Wire EDM Programmer/Operator for its San Antonio, TX facility. You'll program, set up, run, and inspect CNC Wire EDM work for progressive stamping dies. That means importing CAD geometry, building complete programs, setting up the machine, aligning workpieces, and establishing work coordinates. You'll program on a Mitsubishi MV1200R using Hexagon/Esprit CAD/CAM, and run a Perseo-Erie EDM Drill Mate 20 hole popper. Your work includes rough cuts, skim passes, and cutting offsets on hardened tool steels, held to the surface finish and tolerance the print calls for, down to ±0.0002" when required. You'll manage your own programming and machining assignments, prioritize urgent tooling needs, and check finished parts against engineering specs. You'll also keep the machine and work area in good condition, troubleshoot wire breaks and cutting inaccuracies, and keep Engineering and the Toolmakers updated on issues and completion timelines. What You'll Bring Wire EDM programming and operation experience , with 5+ years preferred Ability to independently program CNC Wire EDM equipment using CAD/CAM software Skill programming complex profiles, tapers, radii, and precision openings Experience machining hardened tool steels and other tooling materials Experience making punches, die blocks, inserts, and stripper plates for stamping dies Strong blueprint and GD&T interpretation Experience with precision inspection equipment Working knowledge of routine machine maintenance and dielectric filtration systems Progressive stamping tooling experience preferred Reliability, accuracy, and attention to detail About the Organization Our client is a third-generation, family-owned company founded in 1960. It is an engineering-based maker of miniature to small precision stamped components in medium to high volume runs. The San Antonio facility builds and maintains progressive dies for thin-gauge metals on high-speed presses. Work includes rapid prototyping, custom EMI/RFI shields, and automotive ignition terminals. The shop is engineering-driven, and Wire EDM works closely with Engineering and the Toolmakers. The company is building a reliable core team in San Antonio as it looks to bring more work to the site.
