U.S. Air Force - 60th Force Support Squadron (60 FSS), Education & Training Section Advocate IT, LLC is a Maryland-based, SBA-certified Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) small business and Disability-Owned Business Enterprise (DOBE) providing technology, operational, and customer engagement services to federal, state, and commercial clients. Headquartered in Frederick, Maryland, Advocate IT supports mission-critical programs in regulated environments where customer service, security, accuracy, and accountability matter. Advocate IT is seeking an Information Technology Specialist to provide on-site information technology support to the U.S. Air Force 60th Force Support Squadron Education & Training Section at Travis Air Force Base, California. This opportunity is especially well suited for a college student or intern pursuing an IT-related degree, a recent information technology or cybersecurity graduate, or an early-career/part-time IT professional looking to gain hands-on federal technology experience and grow their career with a growing small business. The position provides exposure to desktop support, networking, Windows administration, cybersecurity, servers, computer laboratories, testing environments, asset management, and direct customer support in a U.S. Air Force environment. The selected technician will provide hands-on support across the Education Center's workstations, servers, network infrastructure, computer laboratories, computer-based testing systems, printers, audiovisual equipment, applications, databases, and associated technology. This is a broad IT support position that provides an excellent opportunity to build practical technical experience while developing skills across multiple areas of enterprise information technology. Key Responsibilities Provide day-to-day technical support for the 60 FSS Education & Training Section Administer and maintain Windows workstations, laptops, local servers, computer laboratories, and computer-based testing systems Support network infrastructure including switches, routers, Wi-Fi, access points, TCP/IP connectivity, and associated network devices Maintain required network administrative privileges and follow applicable privileged-access and cybersecurity procedures Troubleshoot workstation, server, network, application, account, printer, peripheral, and connectivity issues Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and replace authorized computer hardware and software Configure and maintain Microsoft Windows systems in accordance with Air Force and Department of Defense requirements Perform operating-system configuration, patch validation, endpoint security, system hardening, and approved configuration changes Support Windows and Linux operating environments as required Perform daily operational inspections of critical IT, audiovisual, Wi-Fi, classroom, laboratory, and testing equipment Provide incident diagnosis, corrective action, service restoration, and escalation when issues exceed local authority or capability Coordinate network and system outages with 60 FSS IT and other Government support organizations Maintain site-specific system, configuration, installation, and operating documentation Support backup scheduling, backup monitoring, recovery procedures, restore testing, and data-integrity validation Support authorized applications, databases, interfaces, and classroom/testing systems Research hardware, software, equipment, components, warranties, and technical products when requested Provide technical recommendations supporting future technology improvements and refresh planning Maintain an equipment lifecycle register supporting technology refresh and replacement planning Support cybersecurity awareness and identify or report suspected security issues through appropriate Government channels Protect Government information, credentials, equipment, and sensitive information Provide user training and knowledge transfer for software, hardware, classroom systems, and common technical procedures Support Airmen, instructors, testing personnel, education counselors, Government employees, and other Education Center users Support classroom audiovisual equipment, computer laboratories, digital displays, printers, peripherals, and testing technology Perform alternate equipment-custodian duties when designated Support accountability of Automated Data Processing Equipment (ADPE), including annual physical inventory Maintain asset tags, serial numbers, equipment locations, transfers, and inventory information Prepare required Weekly Activity Reports Respond to qualifying major system outages or emergencies within the required four-hour response period Maintain strong customer service, professional communication, and mission awareness Minimum Qualifications Minimum of one (1) year of current information technology experience, including qualifying professional, internship, academic lab, military, volunteer, or similar hands-on technical experience where acceptable under contract requirements Basic hands-on experience supporting computer hardware, software, or Windows operating systems Working knowledge of computer networking and TCP/IP concepts Familiarity with troubleshooting computers, printers, peripherals, applications, or network connectivity Knowledge of basic computer and network security principles Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn multiple technical systems Strong customer-service and verbal communication skills Ability to communicate technical information clearly to technical and non-technical users Ability and willingness to learn new technologies, Government processes, and Air Force IT procedures Ability to work independently while appropriately escalating issues requiring higher-level support Ability to work on-site at Travis Air Force Base Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Ability to obtain and maintain required Travis AFB installation access, network access, training, and personnel-vetting requirements Preferred Qualifications Current enrollment in or recent completion of a degree or certificate program in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Networking, or a related technical discipline College internship, help-desk, desktop-support, IT lab, or other hands-on technical experience Prior U.S. Air Force, Department of Defense, or federal Government IT support experience Experience supporting a training facility, testing center, college, school, or educational technology environment Experience with Windows 10/11 Familiarity with Windows or Linux system administration Familiarity with Active Directory, user accounts, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, switches, or routers Experience with computer hardware repair or workstation configuration Experience supporting printers, audiovisual equipment, classrooms, laboratories, or testing systems Familiarity with cybersecurity, endpoint protection, system hardening, vulnerability management, or patching Experience performing IT equipment inventory or asset management Experience with Air Force Automated Education Management System (AFAEMS), Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT), MyLearning, or Career Development Course (CDC) Assessment Systems is a plus Prior military installation access or
