Summary/Objective The IT Technician works out of our San Leandro, CA location and interacts with various teams throughout the company to ensure the company's successful use of computer, telephone and audio/visual technology. The technician is an important member of a small and productive IT team that provides quality, robust technology solutions to a user community in two locations. They also assist in the maintenance of current technology and in the deployment of new technology in order to support Friant's growth. This work requires a good memory, a curiosity about how things work, and a compulsion to get things right. Responsibilities General Supports all computer system users in their use of any and all software and hardware technology used in the company, including an array of device types and a VOIP phone system Works with managers and supervisors to provide status updates, discuss challenges and address changes to plans and schedules Interacts with outside technology contractors concerning certain projects and work activities Workstation Support Installs, configures, and maintains computers, desktop operating systems, and application software Installs, configures, and maintains support of peripherals (printers, scanners, keyboards, etc.).s Secures workstations and peripherals Troubleshoots network connections Provides Server and Network Support, including WiFi Installs and documents the configuration of routers, servers, operating systems, and network services Organizes Technology Asset Management (hardware, software and subscription) User Account Management Creates and manages user accounts and email accounts Grants database and network access and troubleshoots file sharing/permission issues Conducts regular verifications of physical inventory assigned to users Documentation Creates, updates, and maintains documentation for clients and staff Prepares Wiki and User Guide documentation for company Dozuki knowledgebase Documents all requests received, work performed, and changes made Uses Gemini Tracker for project and Help Request management Help Desk and Training Responds to computer support requests from clients by email, telephone, and in-person Triages and tracks trouble calls Trains and assists users in the use of computers, peripherals, Windows, and office productivity software Competencies Basic understanding of computer hardware, networking, Microsoft Office, and Windows Detail-oriented with good verbal and written communication skills Customer service focus Teamwork-oriented but can also work with minimal supervision Ability to create and follow written procedures and standards Strong work ethic with good work attendance Required Education and Experience Associates Degree or equivalent technical school training; Bachelor's Degree preferred. 2 - 5 years of IT support work in a similar role and capacity Significant experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting computers in a networked Windows environment, including experience working with Windows file sharing and print servers Expertise with Microsoft Office Experience resolving issues with Microsoft Office and other typical desktop applications Experience with and/or knowledge of Cloud-based computing is a plus Experience in working with a company engaged in light to medium manufacturing and/or warehouse distribution is a plus Knowledge of shop floor equipment used in the furniture industry is a plus Bilingual fluency with English as the primary language and Spanish as the secondary language is a plus Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee operates in both a professional office environment and production environment, when necessary. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be required when visiting production areas. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. Some reaching and bending and working in small spaces (like under a desk or behind an equipment rack) is required. The employee must be able to lift and/or move items over 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position working on a regular Monday-Friday schedule, with occasional early morning, evening or weekend duties. All employees receive support from San Leandro. As there is a second plant located in Suffolk, VA, and as there are employees working remotely from other various U.S. cities, the occasional need may arise for working outside of San Leandro hours. Travel Requirements Travel to our Suffolk, VA plant/office may be required in rare situations and for periods of a week or less.
