Job Description

X-Ray Installation Engineer / Technical Support Specialist Work location is in Bloomingdale, Illinois Build Your Career in Medical Imaging Technology Del Medical is a leading manufacturer of diagnostic X-Ray and medical imaging systems. We are looking for a motivated, hands-on X-Ray Installation Engineer / Technical Support Specialist to join our growing Technical Service team. This is a field-focused engineering opportunity for someone who enjoys working with technology, solving problems, traveling, and seeing a project through from installation to completion. The primary responsibility of this position is to travel to hospitals, clinics, imaging centers, and other healthcare facilities throughout North America to install, configure, test, troubleshoot, commission, and maintain Del Medical X-Ray systems. You will work directly with customers, contractors, engineers, and healthcare professionals to ensure our equipment is installed, maintained, and operating properly. A Career, Not Just a Job Approximately 75% of your time will be spent in the field, typically traveling three weeks per month and working 3-4 days per week at customer locations. Overnight travel is required. When you are not traveling, you will work from our Bloomingdale, Illinois facility preparing equipment for installation, receiving technical training, troubleshooting systems, and working alongside our Engineering, Manufacturing, and Technical Service teams. You don't need to be an expert in X-Ray equipment on day one. We will provide hands-on training and mentorship to help you develop the technical knowledge required to become a highly skilled medical imaging installation and field service professional. What You'll Be Doing You'll install and commission sophisticated X-Ray systems, perform mechanical assembly and electrical connections, read schematics and wiring diagrams, configure and test equipment, and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, electronic, and system-related issues. You will also perform preventative maintenance on radiographic and X-Ray equipment, helping identify potential problems before they result in equipment downtime. This may include equipment inspections, functional testing, adjustments, component checks, system verification, and documenting maintenance activities in accordance with Del Medical procedures and customer requirements. You'll assist with system calibration and final testing, perform corrective repairs when needed, and help ensure equipment continues to operate safely and reliably throughout its service life. You'll interact directly with customers during installations and service visits, provide basic equipment training, document completed work, and work with Del Medical's Engineering and Technical Service teams to resolve problems and continuously improve our products and service processes. Who We're Looking For The ideal candidate is hands-on, mechanically and electrically inclined, technically curious, and comfortable traveling extensively. You enjoy figuring out how things work and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty solving a problem. A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Engineering Technology, Robotics or a related technical field is preferred not required. We will also consider candidates with an Associate degree or strong hands-on experience in electronics, electrical systems, mechanical assembly, field service, manufacturing, robotics, industrial equipment, or military technical environments. Recent graduates and early-career engineers are encouraged to apply. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to build a career. You should be comfortable working independently, professional when dealing with customers, safety-conscious, and excited about developing expertise in advanced medical technology. Where This Career Can Take You This position is designed to provide a pathway into increasingly advanced technical and engineering roles at Del Medical. As you gain experience, you can progress into positions such as X-Ray Installation Engineer, Field Service Engineer, Senior Field Service Engineer, Technical Trainer, or Technical Service Manager. Why Del Medical? At Del Medical, you won't spend your career sitting behind a desk. You'll travel throughout the country, work with advanced medical imaging equipment, perform installations and preventative maintenance, solve real-world engineering problems, and develop skills that can take you anywhere in the medical technology industry.
