The IT Assistant provides technical support to users and helps maintain the County Jail's technology systems, including hardware, software, and networks. This role assists in troubleshooting issues, maintaining systems, and ensuring reliable IT services for staff and operations.
Qualifications Education:
An associate degree or higher with coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred. Possession of one or more of the following industry-recognized certifications is preferred: CompTIA A+, CompTIA IT Fundamentals, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+
Experience:
Candidates should have experience providing technical support for computer hardware, software, and networked environments. Experience with workstation deployment, troubleshooting, user support, and Microsoft Windows operation systems is required. Experience working with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Windows server administration, network infrastructure, or other systems administration responsibilities is highly desirable but not required. Candidates with demonstrated hands-on experience through previous employment, military service, vocational training, internships, home laboratories, or comparable technical projects are encouraged to apply.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues with hardware, software, and network systems. Good understanding of basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP). Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and productivity software (Microsoft Office). Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with customers to provide technical support. Basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices. Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly on the job. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues with hardware, software, and network systems.
