Description:

Help Desk Technician I Job Summary The Help Desk Technician I is responsible for providing first-level technical support for hardware, software, and various business applications across the organization. This role supports the day-to-day maintenance of the IT environment by troubleshooting technical issues, installing and configuring hardware and software, and escalating complex issues when necessary. The Help Desk Technician I serves as the first point of contact for employees seeking technical assistance and provides support via phone, remote access, email, text, and in person. Responsibilities include supporting computers, mobile devices, scanners, phones, printers, and other IT equipment, while ensuring timely resolution of support requests and maintaining a high level of customer service. Key Responsibilities Manage and respond to help desk tickets in a timely manner. Serve as the first point of contact for end-user technical support requests. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve basic hardware, software, and system issues. Escalate complex technical issues to higher-level technicians as appropriate. Install, configure, and maintain computers, peripherals, mobile devices, printers, scanners, and related equipment. Perform software installations, upgrades, configuration changes, and routine system maintenance. Support Active Directory administration, including password resets and user account maintenance. Maintain accurate asset inventory and assist with asset tracking and hardware lifecycle management. Coordinate hardware recycling and equipment disposal processes. Create and maintain knowledge base documentation, user guides, and technical training materials. Provide basic software training and support for company applications. Coordinate with external vendors and service providers on projects and support needs. Provide remote support to the company's India office as needed. Move and deploy hardware equipment when required. Perform additional duties as assigned by the IT Manager. Qualifications Required Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum one (1) year of experience in a technical support, help desk, desktop support, or related IT role. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to quickly learn and support new technologies. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities. Ability to travel up to 25% of the time. Preferred Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, or other relevant certifications. Experience supporting Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 applications, Active Directory, mobile devices, and network-connected hardware. Experience creating technical documentation and end-user training materials. Skills & Competencies Strong customer service mindset and commitment to user satisfaction. Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities. Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Prairie, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
