Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Technical Support Specialist to join our innovative educational technology team. In this role, the Technical Support Specialist provides frontline technology support to staff, students, and administrators across the district. This position is responsible for diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues, assisting with the setup and maintenance of district technology, and ensuring reliable access to instructional and administrative systems. The Technical Support Specialist also plays a key role in supporting classroom technology, providing user training, and maintaining accurate documentation of technology assets and support activities. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to communicate technical information in a clear and supportive manner to non-technical users. Essential Functions To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Provide technical assistance and support for district staff, students, and administrators with hardware and software issues. Install, configure, and maintain computers, printers, classroom technology, and peripheral devices. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with student devices (e.g., Chromebooks, iPads, laptops) and instructional technology (e.g., projectors, interactive whiteboards). Support districtwide systems such as email, learning management platforms, and productivity tools. Maintain accurate records of support requests, solutions, and equipment inventory. Assist with system updates, software installations, and hardware rollouts. Escalate complex technical problems to higher-level IT staff or vendors when necessary. Provide training and guidance to staff and students on proper use of technology resources. Ensure compliance with district policies, security protocols, and data privacy regulations. Participate in the setup and support of technology for school events/Board meetings, testing, and other district functions. Understand and follow safety procedures
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in data management and reporting. Proficiency in using and supporting Student Information Systems and related software. Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to system upgrades or changes. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities with the capacity to meet deadlines. Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff. Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with data privacy regulations (FERPA and district policies). Skilled in generating and interpreting reports for decision-making and compliance. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with teachers, administrators, IT staff, and state reporting agencies. Strong customer service orientation and patience when providing user support and training.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with hardware, software, and network systems. Proficiency with Windows, ChromeOS, macOS, and/or iOS device management. Familiarity with classroom technologies (e.g., projectors, smartboards, document cameras, interactive displays). Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users. Strong organizational and time-management abilities, including the capacity to prioritize and handle multiple tasks. Ability to provide patient, customer-focused support to staff and students of varying technical skill levels. Knowledge of help desk ticketing systems and documentation practices. Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and data privacy requirements (e.g., FERPA). Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. Adaptability to learn new technologies quickly and assist in system updates or rollouts.
Education, Qualifications and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred. Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Professional, or Google Certified Educator are a plus. Prior experience in technical support, preferably in an educational environment or working with K-12 technology. Familiarity with common operating systems (Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, iOS) and classroom technology tools. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently. Strong customer service skills with experience supporting diverse users including students, teachers, and administrative staff. Be a U.S. citizen or alien with employment eligibility
