A leading infrastructure and transportation group is seeking an Enterprise Architect to serve as the design authority across three core pillars: Data Engineering, Application Development, and ERP (JD Edwards), as well as the integration landscape connecting them. This strategic role establishes target-state architectures, integration patterns, and governance frameworks, bridging local execution with global group IT strategy. Depth in at least one pillar with the technical breadth and curiosity to cover the rest is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Architecture & Standards:
Establish target-state architectures, reference models, and design patterns across Data, AppDev, and ERP domains. Publish "golden paths" to streamline delivery.
Integration & Governance:
Define integration strategy (APIs, event-driven/batch patterns, service buses, master data flows). Own enterprise data governance, data domains, policies, and quality standards.
AI & Self-Service Governance:
Design governance models for AI agents, machine consumers (identity, entitlements, auditability), and citizen-developed/low-code business solutions.
Architecture Assurance & Advisory:
Chair architecture reviews, lead build-vs-buy evaluations, and sequence technical debt remediation into practical roadmaps without micromanaging delivery.
Influence & Alignment:
Maintain technology watches to evaluate innovations, publish Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), and align local standards with parent group digital functions.
EXPERIENCE
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering.
Track Record:
Minimum 12 years of professional IT experience, including 5+ years in Solution or Enterprise Architecture roles. Proven history of successfully driving integration across complex, multi-system environments.
Domain Depth & Breadth:
Subject-matter depth in at least one pillar (Data Platform, AppDev, or ERP) paired with strong cross-pillar technical range and an appetite to quickly master new domains.
Architecture Exposure:
Strong background in data lakehouse architectures, API/event-driven design, ERP integration (JD Edwards preferred), and AI agent governance models.
Certifications (Preferred): TOGAF, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), or related data/integration certifications.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Enterprise & Integration Architecture:
TOGAF, reference modeling, API management, Enterprise Service Bus, event-driven messaging, and C4/ArchiMate documentation.
Data Platform & Analytics:
Lakehouse architectures, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, dimensional modeling, and master data management (MDM).
Application & Cloud Platform:
Modern web architectures, APIs, microservices, Azure Landing Zones, ADLS Gen2, Entra ID, Key Vault, and security-by-design principles.
ERP & Governance:
ERP data structures/interfaces (JD Edwards a plus), low-code governance, fusion teams, and AI/Agent access frameworks (MCP, entitlement limits).
Financial & Vendor Evaluation:
TCO modeling, cloud consumption governance, and structured build-vs-buy analysis.
SOFT SKILLS
Influence Without Authority:
Proven ability to align cross-functional engineering teams around shared standards.
Pragmatism & Range:
Ability to balance target-state architecture against delivery constraints, legacy debt, and budget realities.
