CMMC, NIST
800-171, DFARS, and ITAR requirements. About the Role We are looking for a Cybersecurity Engineer II to design, implement, and manage security controls across Brea Networks and client environments. This is a mid-level, hands-on role for someone who can work independently, solve complex problems, and make sound technical decisions. You will support threat detection, incident response, security projects, and compliance programs while working with our engineering, SOC, support, and compliance teams. What You Will Do Security Engineering and Implementation Design and implement security controls aligned with
CMMC, NIST 800-171, CIS
Controls, and client requirements. Configure and manage security tools, platforms, and services. Review environments and recommend secure technical solutions. Lead the technical implementation of assigned security projects. Configure secure access, network segmentation, identity controls, and system-hardening standards. Test security solutions and confirm they work as intended. Threat Detection and Incident Response Review and analyze security alerts and incidents. Investigate suspicious activity and identify the root cause. Recommend and complete corrective actions. Work with the SOC, support, and engineering teams during incident response. Support vulnerability scanning, review, tracking, and remediation. Help improve alerting, monitoring, and response procedures. Compliance and Risk Implement and validate technical controls for
CMMC, NIST 800-171, CIS
Controls, and other security frameworks. Support security assessments, audits, and risk reviews. Collect and maintain technical evidence. Help correct security gaps found during assessments. Support client and regulatory security requirements. Protect Controlled Unclassified Information and other sensitive data. Documentation and Improvement Maintain security documentation, diagrams, SOPs, policies, and technical standards. Record system changes, test results, findings, and corrective actions. Keep assigned tickets and project notes accurate and current. Identify security gaps and recommend practical improvements. Build repeatable processes that improve security across client environments. Share knowledge with support and engineering team members. Required Qualifications Three or more years of hands-on cybersecurity, security engineering, or related IT security experience. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, Entra ID, security tools, or cloud monitoring. Experience configuring or supporting firewalls such as FortiGate, Meraki, or SonicWall. Strong knowledge of networking, including segmentation, routing, VPNs, and secure access. Experience with incident response, vulnerability management, and security monitoring. Experience with endpoint security, identity management, or access controls. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions. Clear written and verbal communication. Strong documentation habits. Preferred Qualifications Security+, Network+, CCNA, CySA+, AZ-500, or similar certification. Experience with
CMMC, NIST 800-171, CIS
Controls, FedRAMP, DFARS, or ITAR. Experience with Microsoft Azure Government, GCC, or GCC High. Experience with SIEM, EDR, or XDR platforms. Experience with Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Defender. PowerShell or basic scripting experience. Experience working for an MSP or MSSP. Experience supporting regulated organizations or defense contractors. Pay:
$70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year

Do you have experience configuring or managing firewalls such as FortiGate, Meraki, or SonicWall? Do you have experience investigating security alerts, incidents, or vulnerabilities and completing remediation? Are you willing to maintain clear documentation for security changes, investigations, testing, and project work? Are you willing to complete a background check as a condition of employment?
