Job Description

Information Security Analyst I (CS27-049) Ready to turn your cybersecurity skills into real-world impact? Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) invites applications for the position of Information Security Analyst I (CS27-049) to help protect the systems, data, and people that matter most. The Information Security Analyst I reports to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for SIUE and collects data for creating information security policies and procedures, assists in research to analyze and implement risk mitigation, and monitors information security systems consistent with organizational security goals and industry best practices. What You Will Do The Information Security Analyst I is expected to stay up-to-date on the latest threat intelligence, including hackers' methodologies, in order to help the CISO and Information Technology Services (ITS) anticipate potential security perimeter breaches including cybersecurity specific attacks within the comprehensive information security program response Provides tier 1 consulting and tier 2 support through triage and thorough problem analysis with regard to technical system and application programs related to security operations and security events; documents security findings, and monitors and configures installed information security systems
FLSA:
Non-Exempt1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Any one or any combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the following categories: A. College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months) Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months) 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months) Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months) B. Work experience in IT-related functions, such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field. AND Years can be concurrent
  • 1+ years of experience in at least one of the following information security domains including hands on experience with software, troubleshooting, practices, and technologies for securing information assets: Risk Management, Asset Security, Security Engineering, Communications/Network Security, ID & Access Management, Security Assessment & Testing, Sec Ops, Software Development Security
  • Understanding of common IT threats, vulnerabilities, defenses, principles and policies of information security. Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering, Library & Information Science, Computer Management and Information Systems (CMIS), Cybersecurity, or other relevant field
  • Experience with AI and AI assisted security tools including MicroSoft Azure, MS Defender, CoPilot, ChatGPT, CrowdStrike, and Splunk SIEM.

Step Illinois Residency Requirement :
Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.
