It's a challenging goal, but we have a winning team that is looking to grow. As a Cyber Security Intern, you will assist the Security team in protecting C Spire's networks, data, and systems. You'll gain experience in identifying threats, researching vulnerabilities, and supporting incident response activities across the enterprise. Working with operational teams across the business, you will help maintain a strong security posture through prevention, detection, and governance. This position is for a Summer Internship in 2026, located at our Corporate office in Ridgeland, MS.

Responsibilities:

What You Will Do In all of your duties, you will have a relentless, obsessive, yet disciplined approach to manage all details to perfection and deliver desired results.

• Assist in the development of security processes and preventative controls.
• Analyze systems for vulnerabilities and participate in research of potential threats.
• Support incident response activities and learn escalation procedures.
• Collaborate with operational teams to ensure security initiatives are maintained .
• Provide support to the designated department while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
• Perform and complete assignments given by your Manager .
• Communicate effectively in written and oral formats across departments.
• Use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for documentation and reporting.
• Collaborate with other interns in the summer program.

This position is an exceptional introduction to information security and cyber defense, offering exposure to critical tools, frameworks, and real-world challenges.

• Active enrollment and good standing at an accredited college or university.
• Suc v cessful completion of at least 12 credit hours in computer technology or math-related coursework.
• A strong interest in cyber security, information security, or a closely related field.
• Housing in the Jackson, MS metro area.
• Must be at least 18 years of age. We will give special consideration to candidates who have:
• Previous coursework or hands-on experience in security, networking, or systems administration.
• Familiarity with basic cyber security tools and concepts.
