Job Description

Akkodis is seeking an GCP Data Engineer for a Contract with a client in Dearborn, MI (Hybrid). The ideal candidate will design and develop scalable backend services and APIs to process high-volume telematics data from connected vehicle fleets, ensuring reliable and low-latency data delivery.
Rate Range:
$55/Hour to $65/Hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. GCP Data Engineer Job Responsibilities include: Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and REST/gRPC APIs to process and serve large-scale telematics data from connected vehicle fleets. Build and optimize real-time and batch data pipelines using GCP services, Kafka/Pub/Sub, BigQuery, and other distributed data processing technologies. Develop high-performance data ingestion frameworks for GPS, trip events, driver behavior, vehicle diagnostics, and sensor telemetry data. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design reliable, low-latency, and highly available cloud-native solutions that support fleet intelligence products. Implement API security, versioning, monitoring, and performance tuning while ensuring adherence to best practices for scalability and maintainability. Leverage AI/ML and big data technologies to support predictive analytics, automation, and data-driven decision-making across enterprise fleet management platforms.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related technical field. 7+ years of overall IT experience, including 5+ years of hands-on software development experience in backend systems, data engineering, or cloud-native application development. Strong experience designing and deploying scalable cloud solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Compute Engine, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines. Proven expertise building high-volume data pipelines and secure APIs using technologies such as Kafka, BigQuery, Spring Boot, Java/Kotlin/Python, REST/gRPC, and distributed data processing frameworks. Pay Details:
