Job Description
Quantic builds point-of-sale software used by hospitality and retail merchants, together with integrated card payment partners. We're looking for a SQL developer to own the reporting that merchants and partners rely on every day. You'll turn high-volume transaction data into accurate, fast, trusted reports. The role You'll write reports against our operational Couchbase (NoSQL) database. You'll also build out our Snowflake data warehouse, so reporting scales without slowing down the live POS platform. You'll work closely with product, support and our payments partners. You'll take requirements and deliver reports and data models people actually use. What you'll do Design, build and maintain POS reports covering sales, transactions, payments, refunds, voids, discounts, tips, tax, settlements, product and menu performance, staff activity and site performance. Write and optimise SQL++ (N1QL) and Couchbase Analytics queries against JSON document data, and design indexes that support reporting without hurting operational workloads. Build and maintain ELT pipelines from Couchbase into Snowflake, using staging, Snowpipe, streams and tasks. Model semi-structured data into clean dimensional (star-schema) tables, views and secure views in Snowflake. Build reconciliation reports between POS transactions, card terminal data and acquirer or settlement files. Deliver scheduled, parameterised and ad hoc reports and dashboards in our BI tools. Put data quality checks and automated tests in place, and keep documentation and a data dictionary up to date. Investigate and fix report defects, data discrepancies, failed loads and slow queries. What you'll bring 5 + years of professional SQL development, with strong skills in complex joins, window functions, CTEs and performance tuning. Hands-on experience with Couchbase (SQL++/N1QL), or solid NoSQL/JSON querying experience and a willingness to learn Couchbase quickly. Practical Snowflake experience, including handling VARIANT/semi-structured data, warehouse sizing and cost awareness. Experience with data modelling for analytics (Kimball / star schema). Experience building ELT pipelines and working with version control (Git). An eye for detail, especially where the numbers have to reconcile to the cent. Clear communication with non-technical stakeholders.
