As a Senior Electrical Engineer - Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will serve as a senior technical authority for electrical infrastructure supporting hyperscale, colocation, AI/HPC, and other mission-critical facilities. You will shape electrical strategy from utility interconnection through the critical power train to the IT load while providing technical direction, independent review, client guidance, and mentorship.
Technical Leadership & Critical Power Systems Electrical Architecture:
Lead electrical Basis of Design, system architecture, and major technical decisions from utility service through the IT load.
Critical Power:
Provide senior technical leadership for MV/LV distribution, substations, transformers, switchgear, generator plants and paralleling, UPS systems, transfer schemes, PDUs, busway, grounding, and high-density power distribution.
Power Studies:
Lead or review load flow, short-circuit, protective coordination, arc-flash, grounding, and related studies using
ETAP, SKM
PowerTools, EasyPower, or equivalent. Technical Judgment Resolve complex engineering challenges while balancing reliability, maintainability, constructability, cost, schedule, and energy performance.
Design Assurance & Project Delivery Technical Governance:
Provide independent review of calculations, studies, drawings, specifications, equipment selections, and major design packages across project teams and global delivery resources.
Project Execution:
Stay engaged from conceptual planning and detailed design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover; support significant RFIs, field conditions, substitutions, and technical changes.
Commissioning:
Provide senior electrical support for FAT/SAT, startup, commissioning, and integrated systems testing of critical electrical infrastructure
AI/HPC, Innovation & Client Leadership AI/HPC:
Help advance electrical strategies for AI/GPU-dense environments, rising rack power densities, and next-generation data center architectures.
Emerging Technology:
Evaluate high-density distribution, BESS, microgrids, distributed energy resources, and other emerging power solutions for practical deployment.
Client & Pursuits:
Serve as a trusted technical advisor in client workshops, design reviews, technical presentations, proposals, and major pursuits.
Standards, Mentorship & Technical Excellence Standards:
Develop and improve electrical standards, master specifications, calculation methodologies, reference designs, and lessons learned that improve quality and delivery velocity.
Mentorship:
Coach Electrical Engineers, Discipline Leads, Principal Engineers, and developing technical specialists; strengthen technical capability and succession depth.
Technical Community:
Share expertise through design reviews, workshops, communities of practice, and appropriate industry engagement. Education:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program; Master's degree preferred. PE License (Required): Active Electrical PE license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with ability to obtain additional state licenses as required; NCEES record strongly preferred.
Experience:
Typically 15-20+ years of professional electrical engineering experience with significant experience in data centers, mission-critical, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, or similarly complex high-reliability facilities.
Critical Power:
Advanced expertise in MV/LV distribution, switchgear, transformers, generator plants and paralleling, UPS systems, transfer schemes, redundancy, and critical electrical distribution.
Power Analysis:
Experience with
ETAP, SKM
PowerTools, EasyPower, or equivalent for short-circuit, load-flow, protective coordination, arc-flash, and related studies.
Codes & Standards:
Strong working knowledge of
NEC/NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 110, IEEE 1584, IEEE
3000-series, and other applicable electrical standards.
Leadership & Delivery:
Demonstrated ability to make and communicate complex technical decisions with clients and multidisciplinary teams; experience within EPCM, EPC, Design-Build, or similar integrated delivery environments.
Travel:
Willingness to travel to project sites and client locations, typically up to 25%. Ideally, You'll Also Have Hyperscale /
Colocation:
Direct experience delivering large data center programs for hyperscale, cloud, technology, or colocation clients.
AI/HPC Power:
Experience with GPU-dense environments, high-density power distribution, or evolving AI/HPC electrical architectures.
Emerging Energy:
Experience with BESS, microgrids, utility interconnection strategy, distributed energy resources, or renewable integration.
Commissioning:
FAT/SAT and IST experience involving generator plants, UPS systems, switchgear, and other critical-power systems.
Technical Leadership:
Experience developing standards, reference designs, or technical governance programs; industry participation or technical presentations are a plus. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
