Career Development Job Purpose:
The Sr. Career Data Specialist is responsible for the collection and interpretation of career outcomes, assessment, and reporting for the Center for Career Development and assists with other Division of Student Life data needs. Collects, analyzes, interprets, and communicates career related data to stakeholders, including but not limited to, University leadership, academic departments, accrediting bodies, and national reporting organizations. Identifies meaningful insights from complex data sets, manages departmental technology platforms, and helps communicate the story of student career success through effective reporting, assessment, and data visualization. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to translate data into actionable information for diverse audiences.
Essential Duties:
Manage collection of data pertaining to student and alumni career outcomes that is disseminated to both internal and external stakeholders, including accrediting bodies and national agencies. Provide accurate data to NACE for the First Destination Survey and other reports. Analyze career outcomes data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for program improvement. Translate quantitative and qualitative data into actionable insights to support career specific metric reporting. Manage the use and maintenance of departmental platforms to ensure accurate database management Respond in a timely manner with employers, students, and alumni regarding questions relating to approvals and utilization of departmental platforms (i.e. Handshake, etc.). Provide training as needed for the Handshake platform, for both students and staff, serving as a primary point of contact and user Collaborate with Financial Aid, and various departments in their use of the Handshake platform to support the Federal Work Study hiring process. Assist students, alumni, and employers via email, phone or in-person, with questions relating to departmental software, platforms, and use thereof Provide content/design for staff members from departmental platforms for purpose of departmental reports/newsletters/updates Manage the department's assessment plans, collection and analysis of data, interpretation of findings, and communication of results to inform continuous improvement.
Additional Skills Required:
Ability to synthesize complex data into meaningful and actionable information for diverse audiences. Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities through quantitative and qualitative analysis. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously Proficiency in MS Office with advanced skills in Excel Commitment to data accuracy, integrity, and continual process improvement. Ability to learn and maintain proficiency with computer-based platforms (Career Services Management system, Handshake, WordPress, etc.) High levels of attention to detail, self-motivation, determination, problem-solving, critical thinking, and time-management Must be able to prioritize and set goals Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are essential The ability to uphold human dignity and respect by recognizing each person's worth, valuing diverse perspectives, and treating others with kindness, fairness, and empathy Must be able to respect, support and contribute to the University's Catholic and Jesuit mission
Minimum Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree required. Degree in business, analytics, social sciences, education, information systems, or related field preferred

Minimum Job Experience Requirements:
Minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of relevant work experience in the areas of data analytics, data collection and interpretation, and developing/presenting reports
