Job Description

Cox Automotive seeks a Sr Database Engineer to design, optimize, and support large-scale database platforms powering our telecommunications and media solutions. You will architect scalable relational and NoSQL databases, implement high-availability and disaster recovery, and tune performance for mission-critical applications serving brands like Autotrader and Manheim. Partner with software engineering, data, and DevOps teams to deliver secure, reliable data services, automate database operations, and support cloud migrations. You'll influence data strategy, mentor engineers, and help drive innovation in a collaborative, people-first culture. Responsibilities Design and architect scalable relational and No SQL database solutions Implement high availability, backup, and disaster recovery strategies Monitor and tune database performance for mission-critical systems Develop and maintain database schemas, objects, and stored procedures Collaborate with software, data, and Dev Ops teams on application design Automate database deployments and operational runbooks Ensure database security, compliance, and data governance standards Support cloud migrations and hybrid data architectures Troubleshoot complex production database incidents Mentor junior engineers and contribute to data platform best practices Required Skills SQLDatabase performance tuning Relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) No SQL databases (Mongo DB, Cassandra, Dynamo DB) Database high availability and disaster recovery Cloud database services (AWS, Azure, GCP) Automation and scripting (Python, Bash, or Power Shell) Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) Database security and compliance CI/CD for database changes
