Job Description

The Platte County Assessor's Office is accepting applications for a Full-Time GIS Specialist to join our team. Position Overview The Platte County GIS Specialist is responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of the NRD's geographic information system and global positioning system (GPS). Managers assigned programs involving GIS and GPS that include, but are not limited to ground water, surface water and projects. Advises management on procedures and proper actions in assigned program areas Primary Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain GIS applications utilizing ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, GPS, and related geospatial technologies to support groundwater management, flood control projects, irrigated acres, and other district programs. Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot GIS software and GPS equipment. Create, acquire, update, organize, and maintain geospatial data, geodatabases, metadata, and data management systems to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and integrity. Manage and maintain the District's Master Database, Acre Certification Database, and other GIS-related databases and information systems. Produce maps, web-based GIS applications, public-facing map services, and analytical products to support district programs, county departments, elected officials, and the public. Conduct spatial analysis, research studies, technical assessments, and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reviews related to assigned projects and program areas. Collect, integrate, analyze, and interpret GPS, aerial imagery, remote sensing, and other geospatial data for planning, regulatory, and operational purposes. Coordinate geospatial data sharing and collaborative projects with local, state, federal, and regional organizations. Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging GIS technologies, software, procedures, and best practices to improve operational efficiency and data management. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in geographic information systems (GIS), Geography, Geospatial Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Planning, Engineering, or a closely related field, preferred. Three (3) years of progressively responsible GIS experience preferred. Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) certification preferred. Experience administering ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, and related geospatial platforms preferred. Experience with SQL databases, geodatabase design, and database administration preferred. Experience developing GIS web applications, dashboards, and field data collection solutions preferred. Farming or Agriculture background, preferred. Valid driver's license. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of GIS principles, cartography, spatial analysis, geospatial data management, and GPS technologies. Ability to explain technical GIS concepts and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to read and understand legals and legal definitions on various documents.
