Job Description

Job Title:
GIS Designer Location:

Contract Compensation:
$30.00 - $31.50
Work Model:
Hybrid - onsite and remote Responsibilities
  • Create, update, and revise sketches, working drawings, and contract documents using SmallWorld GIS software or manual means of drafting to meet customer requirements.
  • Prepare 2D and 3D models.
  • Read and comprehend detailed customer requirements, data sheets, and supplier specifications.
  • Complete assignments utilizing information provided by project engineering, architectural, or technical services staff under the supervision of a manager.
  • Design and manage electric distribution projects for new and existing customers, including customer interaction, project management, field assessments, and system design using GE Smallworld (customized GIS).
  • Perform transformer sizing, underground cable routing, and pole placement.
  • Check SAP for new customer contacts.
  • Conduct field visits or engage in computer-based design work.
  • Participate in weekly scheduling meetings (Mon/Tues) and team touchpoints (Thurs).
  • Handle highly varied daily tasks in a hybrid work environment.
  • Visit residential, commercial, and construction sites as part of field work, following standard safety protocols. Requirements
  • Strong communication (verbal and written).
  • Organizational and project management skills.
  • Basic electrical knowledge or background.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • GIS or AutoCAD experience is a plus but not required.
  • People skills, desire to learn, adaptability, and independence.
  • No specific degree required; open to various backgrounds including construction, call center, police, etc.
  • Experience in electrical or utility fields is a plus.
  • No certifications required.
