SUPERVISES

District technology support staff

JOB GOAL

To provide overall strategic direction, management, and tactical implementation of existing and proposed information technology systems district-wide while aggressively advancing the district's use of technology.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Network and Infrastructure Management

 Design, implement, and maintain district-wide network architecture including Local Area Networks (LAN),

Wide Area Networks (WAN), Wireless LANs (WLAN), and Virtual LANs (VLAN).

 Oversee core networking infrastructure including enterprise routers, managed switches, firewalls, load

balancers, DNS, DHCP, and secure VPN connections.

 Lead cyber-incident response planning and network security audits to protect administrative and student data.

 Manage multi-site connectivity, data centers, virtualization, and backup/disaster recovery strategies.

Massachusetts Compliance and Strategic Leadership

 Serve as the district's Data Privacy Officer, ensuring compliance with M.G.L. c. 93H (Data Privacy),

Massachusetts student record regulations (603 CMR 23.00), and national standards (FERPA/COPPA).

 Manage vendor contracts and enforce the use of the Massachusetts Student Data Privacy Alliance

(MSDPA) registry for all digital resources.

 Author and update the district's Multi-Year Technology Plan.

 Lead the district's federal E-Rate program application process to maximize funding for broadband and

network hardware.

 Supervise, evaluate, and mentor district IT personnel, network technicians, and external contractors.

Systems and Instructional Integration

 Oversee the stability and data integrity of the district's Student Information System (SIS) for DESE SIMS,

EPIMS, and SCS state reporting.

 Collaborate with the curriculum team to ensure network infrastructure seamlessly supports 1:1 device

initiative, state-mandated online testing (MCAS), and Learning Management Systems (LMS).

 Manage Google Workspace for Education accounts and settings for the district.

Operational Support:

 Provide the technological infrastructure, appropriate technology tools, professional development, and end user

support to enable students, teachers, administrators, and support staff members to use technology effectively in

teaching, learning, and management of the school affairs.

 Work directly with teachers to enhance student learning through the implementation and appropriate use of

technology and instructional resources in classrooms.

 Work collaboratively with the Director of Curriculum, or his or her designee, to support and utilize

information technology to enhance the district's capacity to use data for decision making in both instructional

and non-instructional settings.

 Other duties as assigned by the superintendent and/or their designee.
