Blackwood Educational Land Institute is a regenerative farm and nature center that has provided youth and adults experiences regarding ecological farming and a connection to nature since 2000. We are looking for a camp director for the 2027 Summer Nature Camp. Our camp has been running for over 20 years and has a rich heritage of giving Houston youth the opportunity to explore, play in nature, and grow in their independence. Nature Camp runs from mid-June to the end of July and consists of 6 weeks of 5-night sessions with about 25 campers per week. As camp director, your job will be to facilitate everything for camp to run successfully. This includes but is not limited to recertification by the state, attracting families to sign up, hiring and mentoring counselors and counselors-in training, buying supplies, and ensuring that all safety provisions are met. During camp, you will be on-site with the campers and staff for the entirety of each week, ensuring that campers have both fun and safe time. The position is full-time or part-time, depending on the applicants availability and aspirations. This role is initially planned for the summer camp only. However, it is desired for the camp director to eventually lead other camps throughout the year. Compensation will be an hourly rate for a probationary first three months, with the possibility of salary afterwards.
