Application Administrator and Trainer

Job Description

As the Applications Administrator and Trainer, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable overseeing all access credentials for ESU Employees active directory. You will be an active member of the Computing & Communications Services team and will work closely with the Associate Director of Academic Computing to deliver exceptional training on various applications to the campus community. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your information technology background and working experience with Banner ERP successfully migrating data and integrating tools all while collaborating with faculty to optimizing systems designed to support student learning. To be successful in this role, you must possess a keen attention to detail, ability to execute complex directions independently, and take initiative making critical decisions centered on student success. Your schedule will be 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday. You may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Applications Administrator and Trainer. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming. What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties) Active Directory Modify, and de-provision user accounts, service accounts, and computer objects based on departmental workflows and enterprise policies. Assign and audit role-based security group memberships and distribution lists to enforce the principle of least privilege. Organize, maintain, and clean up the OU structure to align with company hierarchy and facilitate efficient Group Policy application. Enforce password policies, troubleshoot account lockouts, and manage Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) parameters. Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for user administration and directory cleanup activities. Banner Access Management (BAM) Define user security profiles and role-based access controls (RBAC) across all Banner modules Provision, modify, and de-provision user accounts based on authorized requests Maintain comprehensive documentation of security configurations, policies, and approval workflows Conduct regular security audits and user access reviews to ensure data integrity Partner with data owners (Registrar, HR, Finance) to define data access boundaries Scantron Scanner Set up, calibrate, and operate Scantron scanning equipment and associated software. Scan forms, resolve read errors, and export accurate data reports to databases. Perform routine cleaning, troubleshoot hardware jams, and coordinate technical repairs. Verify roster data against scanned sheets to ensure 100% data integrity. Maintain strict confidentiality of student grades, test scores, and personal data. Applications Trainer Design, develop, and update comprehensive training programs, including lesson plans, e-learning modules, and hands-on workshops. Conduct engaging in-person and virtual training sessions for ESU staff. Create user-friendly training materials, such as quick-reference guides, video tutorials, and system manuals. What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications) Minimum Qualifications One year as an Information Technology Generalist 1, Applications Developer 1, or Network Specialist 1 Two years of information technology experience that include one year of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services, and an associate's degree in any information technology field. Four years of information technology experience that includes one year of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services. A bachelor's degree in any information technology field. An equivalent combination of experience and training. Able to think critically and apply critical thinking skills to solve problems independently; make independent decisions that support the needs of the University and its students. Able to quickly pivot between work tasks when unplanned events occur that need immediate attention. Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions. Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Microsoft AD. Experience with BAM. Experience with training users on different applications. Knowledge of Scantron scanners. Strong attention to detail with an analytical mindset; critical areas include but not limited to reviewing systems vulnerabilities and logs.
