Based in Brownwood with support for Austin projects; travel to Austin may occur approximately weekly or biweekly, with overnight hotel stays depending on project needs. Additional Details / Notes Projects are primarily in the approximate $50,000

•500,000 range. Project portfolio may include HVAC, electrical, roofing, piping, cooling towers, chillers, substations, paving, building envelope, and underground fiber projects. Interviews will be conducted through Teams, with a possible in-person interview. The role is planned to convert to an FTE position. Upon conversion, compensation is expected to be approximately $100,000

•120,000 annually depending on experience, plus bonus. A four-year engineering degree is not required. Position Overview We are seeking a Project Manager / Project Engineer to manage facility renewal and capital expenditure projects across a facility portfolio. The role is based in Brownwood and supports projects in both Brownwood and Austin, with occasional travel to Austin. This position focuses on technically oriented facility and infrastructure projects, including HVAC modernization and replacement, electrical systems, roofing, piping, building envelope improvements, paving, cooling towers, chillers, substations, underground fiber, and other major infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate combines project management experience with a practical understanding of MEP systems and industrial or facilities environments. Strong organization, attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to work independently are essential. Key Responsibilities Execute annual capital expenditure projects across the facility portfolio. Manage multiple concurrent infrastructure projects from design development through construction closeout and commissioning. Manage projects including HVAC replacements, electrical upgrades, roof replacements, building envelope improvements, and major equipment installations. Oversee contractors and construction teams to ensure work meets specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. Control project budgets and schedules and proactively address issues that could affect delivery. Coordinate project activities to minimize disruption to facility operations and building occupants. Review shop drawings, RFIs, and change orders for technical accuracy and cost impact. Conduct site inspections and quality-control activities during construction. Manage project closeout, including punch lists, as-built documentation, warranty collection, and final acceptance. Track capital spending against approved budgets. Provide regular project status updates to stakeholders. Independently manage approximately 10-20 projects depending on project scale. Required Qualifications Project management or project engineering experience involving construction or infrastructure projects. Technical understanding of MEP systems. Base-level understanding of HVAC and electrical systems. Experience managing projects with responsibility for budget, schedule, organization, and delivery. Strong organizational and detail-oriented administrative skills. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, construction teams, and other stakeholders. Ability to work independently and demonstrate a self-starter approach. Facilities, operations, industrial maintenance, industrial management, or related technical background. Preferred Qualifications Mechanical or electrical background. Operations or trade background. Experience in a mechanical contractor environment. Heavy industrial experience. Industrial maintenance or industrial management experience. Experience with large HVAC projects and major infrastructure systems. Technical Skills MEP technical understanding.
