Job Description
Job Description A client of ours in sports streaming industry is looking to hire a hands-on Sr. Android SWE. You will be responsible for developing mobile applications within the Android Ecosystem in Kotlin mainly, with some Java. In this role, you will work with a cross-functional team of Product Managers, Designers, Mobile/Web/Backend Engineers, and Content Creators to conceptualize and develop world-class apps. This role will mostly consist of focusing on net new project work with minimal modernization/maintenance/reducing tech debt type of work. This team is looking for an individual who has previous experience leading a team or projects from start to completion. Based on your experience, you will apply technical expertise to manage individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables and will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions. You will architect reusable solutions that are shared across the company's streaming apps. You may lead others to solve complex problems and provide oversight and direction to other SWEs. Additional Responsibilities and Duties of the
Role:
○ Contributing to a project or feature development ○ Using best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services ○ Writing efficient, reliable, and maintainable code whether implementing architectural improvements, user-facing features, or fixing defects ○ Building solutions for problems of sizeable scope and complexity that will be successfully deployed to customers/users ○ Influencing and driving software engineering best practices within the team ○ Analyzing and optimizing application code for efficiency, reliability and performance ○ Managing multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment ○ Operating as a resource to less experienced Software Engineers, providing an open learning environment for cross-team knowledge sharing o Coding, PR Reviews, Writing Tests ○ Collaborating with QA and Automation Team ○ Interacting with the Product Development team to review requirements and discuss feature development We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. Candidates must be located in LA, Bristol, CT or NYC and must go in the office 4 days/week
4+ years hands-on professional Android development experience on all OS versions, and working with Kotlin specifically (primary language)
Java and XML
Android Studio experience
Jetpack Compose for UI
Familiarity with AI tools such as Cursor and Claude for unit testing support and debugging, PRs, etc.
Java and XML (legacy Android views)
Experience with streaming or entertainment apps
Solid understanding of OO design patterns and concepts.
Solid understanding of unit test frameworks and continuous integration systems.
Solid understanding of architecture, assisting Software Architects as necessary.
Android app development life cycle including Google Play and Amazon App Store compliance policies and submissions requirements.
Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Ability to collaborate in a small, productive development team as well as ability to work independently.
Work well with minimal technical supervision and supplemental engineering support.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; can effectively articulate complex ideas and influence others through well-reasoned explanations.
