Job Description

IT solutions company specializing in providing high-end information technology services to clients across multiple states is currently hiring a Network Engineer to support our Florida-based clients. This is an onsite position supporting client locations in the Daytona Beach and Ocala, Florida areas . Candidates must currently live within reasonable daily commuting distance of Daytona Beach or Ocala. This is not a remote position, and relocation candidates will not be considered.
Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and manage complex network solutions to support the organization's business objectives. Evaluate current network systems and infrastructure to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions accordingly. Configure and optimize network hardware, software, and protocols, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers. Implement security measures to protect the organization's network infrastructure from cyber threats and unauthorized access. The ability to perform and understand network penetration and vulnerability testing with various tools. Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to identify and resolve network-related problems promptly. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, security, and systems, to ensure alignment of network initiatives with business objectives. Maintain documentation of network configurations, processes, and procedures. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in network engineering.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent experience. At least (2-3 imo) five years of experience in network engineering roles, focusing on designing and managing complex network infrastructures. In-depth knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, including TCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VPN, and DNS. Extensive experience with network hardware and software, such as Cisco, Meraki, Mikrotik, and others. Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption protocols. Proficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools, such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, netflow/appow, Auvik, or equivalent tools. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving network issues. Relevant certifications, such as N+, CCNA/CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, or equivalent, are highly desirable.
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year

A client reports that users on one VLAN can access internal network resources but cannot reach the internet, while users on other VLANs are working normally. What would you check first, and how would you troubleshoot the issue? You are deploying a new managed switch at a client site. The switch needs to support separate VLANs for workstations, VoIP phones, and guest WiFi. Briefly explain how you would configure the switch and what else must be in place for the VLANs to function properly across the network. A site-to-site VPN between two client locations shows as connected, but users at Site A cannot access a server at Site B. What are the first things you would verify to determine where the problem is?
