Job Description
Must Have Technical/Functional Skills
IBM MQ administration and migration; z/OS/mainframe MQ; distributed IBM MQ on AWS EC2; queue managers; MQSC; queues, channels, remote and transmission queues; name lists; PROCESS/INITQ and triggering; MQ routing; TLS/mTLS; certificates and keystores; MQ authorities/security; HA/failover; troubleshooting; migration rehearsal, cutover and rollback.
Roles & Responsibilities
Lead hands-on migration of IBM MQ queue managers and associated objects from the mainframe environment to IBM MQ on AWS EC2.
Assess and validate the existing MQ landscape, including queue managers, queues, channels, routing, triggers, security configurations and application dependencies.
Export, recreate, reconcile and validate MQ objects including queues, channels, transmission queues, remote queues, namelists, PROCESS/INITQ definitions and authorities.
Rebuild and validate inter-queue-manager routing, application connectivity, EKS-facing channels and external/partner connectivity.
Configure and validate IBM MQ environments on AWS EC2 in alignment with the approved architecture and HA design.
Migrate MQ security configurations, including TLS/mTLS, certificates, keystores/truststores, channel ciphers and authorities.
Develop reusable MQSC/scripts for MQ object creation, migration, comparison and validation.
Troubleshoot MQ routing, channel, security, certificate, triggering and message-flow issues during migration and testing.
Coordinate with application, AWS infrastructure, network, security, testing, operations and rehosting teams during integration and migration activities.
Lead/support migration readiness, deployment activities, validation, contingency planning and post-production stabilization.
Support object reconciliation, defect resolution, operational runbooks, knowledge transfer and transition to steady-state support.
Generic Managerial Skills, If any
Strong stakeholder coordination, technical problem-solving, production cutover ownership, communication and documentation skills. Ability to work across application, infrastructure, cloud, security, network and operations teams.
